Default what motor combo in madrat

Hi o wise ones..

Got a madrat and wondering what motor/esc combo you use .
Im not a racer just yet.
I have lipos so would be good to use them

So Im thinking brushless that can handle 2c lipo

If someone reads this and has upgraded their combo and wants to sell their old combo let me know

Does the original motor you get with the kit and the ansmann ecs handle lipos?
It probably doesn't do lipo cutoff but I have a beeper

I was running my RC10 on a lipo with my 20 year old Novak ESC and a beeper and that was fine :0 so you would hope the ansman one was ok with it, otherwise the world hasn't made much progress

The EZrun 9T with 30amp esc combo is good and cheap from Hong Kong ebay sellers, that's what we use in them, it's more than fast enough for racing around a small track.

Even better would be the 8.5T which is a bigger rotored motor as well as being faster and the 60Amp ESC, there's lots of sellers on ebay with the ezrun stuff but for an example this is the setup I'm talking about, you could also choose the 7.5T motor if you wanted a bit more speed but that would be getting pretty fast for starters

what about the one I referred to in the FS section novak 13.5T combo?? £55 inc shipping about the same as a new one but novak is quality right?

I actually have a Ezrun 9T Motor, 60A ESC, Program Card deal from ebay and have just installed it, well got to run it in the garage as my radio turned up today.

Not too bad, but as there is a lot of snow here I don't really wanna go out and test it fully. I think Jan 4th is the local clubs indoor noobies day, so Ill have to take it and try it out.

I started the thread as I actually have another MR on its way.

The key is not to get a silly fast motor, especially on a 2wd - it'll just be undriveable.

You asked about some of my stuff for sale - you just missed out on one combo that would have been perfect, but you seem to be on the right track. If you want something that's not a bank breaker, but will serve if you decide to race, I think the best value ESC right now is the Hobbywing Xtreme Stock.

The cheapest UK source I know of are Giantcod.

Marry it up to a 11.5T (I still have 2!) or a 13.5T motor, and you'll have plenty of power, especially if you tinker with the boost settings. It suggests not using a 10.5T - I suspect it could manage, just not with everything cranked up, or perhaps not in a 4wd buggy (again with boosted settings).

I have one of these on the way from Hong Kong, starting to think I should have got a better setup. How fast can you go with these and are they easy on the batteries? Any other info would be great.
Cheers

I run mine with a 9t EZRun 35A combo. It's fine for general bashing around, plenty of speed, and I get huge run times off 5200mAh 2S 30c lipos. I don't think i would anything much faster for general tooling about. You will probably need better tyres off road - i use Schumacher M3 miniblocks (hard compound).

I don't race so can't comment on how suitable it would be for this but I'm very happy with mine.

What T rating would you suggest?
I have the 9T ezrun at the mo and think it works well, but I need a sensored one to race here and a mate would like some tips

Haven't clocked it but can defo recommend the ezrun 9T 35A combo.

I can get up on the back wheels on the straights and really it is a good combo that I can't fault except I would like something else like one of the 3 above.
I need sensored if I want to do comps here and I kinda wanna buy another combo just because.

I sold a few things and now have a little cash burning a hole

Ill see if I can get a film up next week

A video clip would be great, OneKiwi.
Do you think 35mph is feasible on the 8.5t or 9t ezrun?
Still waiting until my stock Ansmann clash motor dies before I order my ezrun setup.

I got a Madrat And I am in a position now to upgrade to brushless.

If you plan to race at your club I have been advised to go for a sensored set up.

Have you looked at this?.. I reckon its pretty dam good value for money.

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/INIX-Racing-60...item2eb2fd5df0

Its sensored so no coggong issues.

Theres a 10.5t and 5.5t option as well but ireckon 8.5t would be fast enough for me anyway.

I've gone for a Speed Passion 3000kV system with a Turnigy 5000mAh 2S 20-30c lipo. I really don't want to go any faster than this, but the great thing is,that even with a 27T pinion attatched, the motor barely even warms up. Temp increase even after a 10 min run is just 10 degrees, and gives you about 32mph.

Ive got a turnigy 5000mah 20c lipo and found it a lot lighter than the nimh pack (110g)

Jst wandering have you put weights in your car to compensate as I find my rat is not as planted or settled when racing on astro when using lipo. If I put the mimh pack in there a massive difference in handling.

I managed to get some brass (90g) and it acts like a tray sitting underneath the battery. I also had some stick on weights on top of the the servo but since then cut some brass (40g) and it sits undernath the servo to give a lower centre of gravity.

Car weighs about 1580g.
