Red face Computer Problem

Think I may have a PSU on the way out, here is what it does.

When the computer has been off for a good few hours, you power up, it gets about 10s into booting up, and it just shuts off. Sometimes it will start on the next attempt, sometimes it takes a few attempts.

No other faults.

Probably the start up caps on the power supply but could also be mainboard issue. Cheap enough to try the psu first

Get a decent quality one IMO....a decent PSU's can make your PC run smoother, less power fluctuations etc..

Someone once told me an easy way to tell, is to get a heavy one, this way it uses good components! However it always seemed to work, the more expensive ones were always heavier!

Yeah my corsair 850w was £130 as makes up half the weight of the entire machine!

To be fair, if my computer usage was photo manipulation, gaming etc, or I had some heavy drain components, I would totally agree, but mine is just a general pc, does internet, stores pics, plays music and office docs, so a 500W one will be slipped in.

Power isnt too critical, but quality is, from the sounds of it!
