Default Help Required on choosing new 4WD Buggy

Hi there, just re-kindling my passion for RC having purchased a te-release Tamiya Hornet, which I have mildly modded. However, now keen to go to the next step and get a starter 4WD for bashing. Following that I would look to go all the way and get a decent racer. So I suppose my questions are as follows:

1. What is a cheap/good starter 4WD model. I have looked at an Ansmann Racing Blizzard and/or a Tamiya Gravel Hound. Are there any others to consider. If so what can anyone recommend and/or what kind of engine would you put in.

2. Does anyone know of any off road racing near Aylesbury/Buckingham?

3. Following this which is the best value racer? i.e Schumacher Cat (they were the rage when I was a kid), Team Durango, Tamiya 501xxx, etc.

Thanks for your help.
