1/10th Off road what car advice!

Hi all, I am a devoted touring car racer and have been for 10 years now. I feel the need to start off in Off road (probably 4WD to start).

Any advice and what car/Speedo/motor please?

Thinking either Cat/B44.1 or maybe Durango if feeling flush.

What wind motors do you use?? Thinking of starting out at the York off road club.

Currently race TC with Xray T3'11 / Tekin and LRP X12 13.5 & 10.5

I have a version 1 LRP SXX TC spec will that do as a starting point. Much needed guidance please!!

Any of those three cars will be a good buy to start with. Seeing as your a touring car driver then the cat would probably suit you best as it will take your batteries, the other two require saddle packs. Have a look at the ansmann X4 pro as a cheaper alternative. Run one myself and it's great for the money although will require saddle packs.

York is quite a slippy surface so either of the motors you have listed will be fine to get you going. 10.5 would be ideal around york.

The LRP Speedo you have is fine as well. I run the pre-runner to that and have had no problems with it, it happily coped with my 5.5 in a B44 indoors and outdoors on various surfaces and the only thing I have ever replaced on it is the fan as it lost all the blades.

So in summary all you really need to get is a car.

Alot of people at York club running b44's and Durango so if you do break something and have'nt got a spare more chance that someone else will Personally i'd go with the Durango been running mine for just over a year now and it's been great

LRP esc will be fine and a 7.5 or 6.5 will be fine at York

Good advice but I think im right in saying that although the cat takes stick packs it will only take them to a certain height or else it rubs on the belt.

I had an SX1 and had to dremel the front bulkhead for length too.

And yes, the speedo is a great one for 4WD off road, myself and a lot of others still use it or its Nosram equivalent.

Thanks for the responses guys much appreciated, what tyres are best suited to York please?

Also where do you guys tend to race do any of you attend the York meetings? Might have a trip over one saturday to take a look!
