Default oil and springs

Hi,im just wondering if there is a rule of thumb,if you change WT oil do you change the spring,if you change by 5WT oil thicker do you have to change to a stiffer spring, how do you know what oil goes with what spring, how do you know if the combo is wrong,
thanks

Generally if you went to a stiffer spring you would consider going to slightly heavier damping to keep the same damping feel. A car on very stiff springs with light damping will handle very differently to a car on very soft springs with heavy damping.

That is a rule of thumb, although when it comes to setup there is no substitute for making the changes and testing them for yourself - every driver has different preferences, and what works for someone else might not work for you.

How do you know when a setup is wrong? Generally, when the car doesn't handle well!

Thanks sosidge(good name)iv been running my second gen cougar on kit springs front and rear,iv been using 35 wt losi oil front and 27.5 rear,i changed to 30 wt rear and the car was much better but most of the team set ups use different springs,i just wondered if the oil and spring went together as a rule of thumb because they work together rather than driving style,
