Default internet speed on oople?

This might sound weired BUT when on oople it takes between 10 and 25 seconds sometimes longer to load a page.
Other sites dont seem to be that long?
Just did a speed check and its 3.4m and thats the fastest i have had so why so slow???

It seems oOple is very busy and in demand, this obviously effects the servers and causes it to be slower. I usually come on here first thing in the morning, and the site is lightning fast as not many are online.

I bet its to do with the forum database, as the rest of the site is pretty speedy, esp the photos!

Probably needs some sort of maintenance plan on it methinks!

Guys, oOple has no "problem", it's just slower than normal due to heavy usage. Sunday night is always the busiest time as everyone has just come home from racing and is online.

If you went somewhere and there was a que, you'd have to wait, viewing an Internet page is exactly the same.

Well, FacePlace & Google have a slight bit more of an operational budget then OOple.

Don't agree with that.

The forum has been on a go slow for a few days now.

I usually find it fast very early in the morning or very late at night. in the day it's quite slow, but since I'm at work I usually click a link and drop it down onto the dock while I do a little bit more work before popping back to it 30 secs later

There's nothing to agree/not agree with, its a fact not a guess. I work in this field as my full time job and know first hand the problems of slow websites.

Its all down to the hosting server and their demands. They may host several hundred, if not thousands of websites which during peak times slow them all down, not just oOple.

And the main reason Facebook, youtube google e.t.c dont suffer the same issue as much is because their site is spread across the world on many different servers, and as Mick B said, they have a much bigger operational budget than oOple does.

The only option oOple has is to either increase its bandwidth, which will cost many ££££'s, or change to a better hosting provider, which again costs £££'s.

Maybe oOple should charge everyone £5 a year to become a member to pay for its running costs.
