Default Shumacher Mini Pin Tire Options

Hi Guys,

Was wondering has anyone tried running the Schuey Blue's Mini Pins?

Do they just do them for 4wd only or can you get these for 2wd too

The only reason i ask is just for club nights the compound would last little bit longer as i ran set of yellows on multi service mainly carpet they lasted me one club night it's alot to shell out just for fun night.

Has anyone got any feedback on the performance compared to the Yellows are they just shocking to run?

I'm not sure what handling problems will have that's why i'm just asking on here for some feedback guys.

Blues will last longer, but will have very little grip on the slippy parts of the track (hall floor/lino etc)...

I am very suprised you used up one set of yellows in ONE nights worth of racing. Yes they do go off a little after one meeting, but I can easily get 4 or so meetings out of a set of yellow pins before they HAVE to be replaced...it is club racing after all

Is the floor very abrasive where it is not carpeted? This could be the reason why your tyres are not lasting very long!

It's 90% carpet then old wooden flooring everywhere else.
The carpet i think very aggressive tbh on the tires so was just after smat like will last little bit longer. i can get bout 2 meetings out but you can tell on the 2nd meeting tires naff back end sliding etc loosing grip where you didnt before etc. I might just give them go see how they are think they should be good on carpet but shall see try them if know one has used them before

Rob, is this on the FS2?

The reason I ask is like Mark I could easily get 4 meetings at Hereford out of a set of yellow pins on the FS (only just used up the last of my tires from last years Petit race, only had 4 sets to use between both chassis too!!!).
I've done 6 meetings (plus loads of practice at Ardent) on one set on the Scorpion, for a 2wd she is super easy on the tires as the rear end works so well.

The FS2 though ruined, I mean almost bold, a set of rears in just a couple of runs at Broxtowe. All that extra rear end rotation is coming at the expense of the rear tires life expectancy I think with the setups we have now. MUCH more work is needed to get her right on carpet for me at least.

I intend to try a few things if I get chance before Petit but failing that I will be running my old faithful FS set up and the FS2 bits will be in the box for further testing.

Will be back on my normal e-mail on Tuesday mate, will chat then.

On Ardents carpet at the last durango meeting, the only way I could stop the cat from turning on a penny, was to fit blue fronts. BUT I wouldn't run them all round, there wouldn't be enough grip.

you could use a yellow mini spike they would last longer than a mini pin i reckon a slight setup alteration and you wont be far wrong.

Hey Roger,

Yeah it's for the FS2 the front's i can get 3-4 meetings on them but the rears are knackered after about good 40mins of running. But when i run at Worksop, i can get another whole meeting on them use these at Chadderton. It's mainly when running on carpet i think (maybe just how aggressive I'am when driving) know when i ran Broxtowe once my tires was shagged after one days meeting too.

On the RB5 i can get about 3-4 meetings on these, never had problem tbh.

I reckon at the Petit, be going through two sets of tires for the 4wd Sunday.

Rob, unless I can find a better setup for the FS at Petit I think it will be new rears every run mate (so with Friday practice I reckon 15 pairs of rears!!!!!). Think I might go back to the FS rear end to be honest when running on carpet.

15 pairs just fell of my seat! £120 on tyres (retail) without wheels or inserts, one cheep car to run, but full marks for honesty

I'm not saying that the FS2 needs it as such but that a combination of the FS2 setups that are currently out there and my driving style are killing rear tires. People like Nick Caro are not finding this issue but he does drive very differently from me!

The 15 sets was basically a set every couple of runs at the current wear rate when doing setup changes as much more worn than that and it would be hard to tell if there was any change from the setup or if the tires had 'gone off'. I am planning on litterally running -change-straight out again - change - out again all thursday night and friday when the track is open at petit as I am trying to dial the FS2 in to my liking. That is a lot of running planned!!!!

I would expect to use no more than 1 set of tires for the 4wd meeting once I got the car dialled in.

I will probably do one quick shakedown run on the Scorpion as she's just about perfect as she is

Sounds good idea Rog but i aint got the money to throw that many tires in lol.

Yeah Nic is very smooth with the car tire wear seems to be very good for him, like you my driving is little different i seem to enjoy eating tires lol.

I'm hoping to get down the Thursday & Friday for practice all day use one set for both days just to get feel back into my fingers more than anything tbh.

It's the 2wd i really need the practice with & work on setup too

Rob, you will be pitting with us anyway so don't worry ... help is on hand for the 2wd

As for the FS2 it will just take some work to sort out and as I've not run the car before 3 weeks ago I am still very much at the learning stage with it.

Come sunday it will be flying and NOT eating tires ... trust me
