as above. just getting some information together.
It would be great to speak to someone who runs a indoor buggy club on a polished wooden floor. |

At Faversham off road club in Kent, see link in my sig we race on a polished wooden floor, the floor seems fine, we cover the down ramps with carpet/matts to stop the cars taking chunks out the floor but overall they seem to run well on it with out damage.
Our hall we use is fairly old and the floor is fairly well used so maybe doesnt show up the marks, but on a new basket ball court style floor I would be a bit carefull. We use Schumacher full spikes and they seem to work well and last ages (6 months + ) a set. |

We run on polished floor and the tyres leave no marks what so ever. To tape stuff down ONTO carpet we use duct tape, to tape stuff down straight onto the floor (such as the carpet) we use masking tape.

Normal racing leaves no noticeable marks on a slippy floor. If anything the floor looks cleaner because the cars polish up the racing line! Can't say I've ever seen "impact damage" to a floor from jump landings but I think carpeted landings are a good idea, as much to calm the caretaker's nerves as anything else. |

We race weekly on polished wood for the last 8 years and have noticed a very slight amount of impact damage but that's only ever occurred when the carpeted landing area wasn't large enough and cars with bad suspension setups landing heavy on the wood. Even then it's not huge chunks.
Black marks can be left if somebody spills a fizzy drink but it rubs off with your foot. The same as somebody doing doughnuts will leave a little rubber but just like a shoe would leave scuffed off the ground. The cars effectively clean the racing ling although one word of warning that shock oil from a burst shock then raced on makes for a very very slippery floor. |

Speaking more from an on-road perspective, if you can't get away with damaging the racing surface, ie carpet, then that's what min ride-heights would be for, so at Ardent it's 5mm, which is pretty standard, but for off roaders, would you need to have that bigger, to allow enough movement. Sorry, but my only off-road experience is with micros.

Yes full spikes are all we use at Faversham, click the link on my sig and there are some videos of the racing and the hall/floor so you can get a feel for it. No marks from the tyres on our hall. |
