Default 511 front tower?

Hi all. I see a few are using what appears to be a thicker than kit front shock tower. I was wondering where these were from? I've lent my spare tower to a mate who I not seen for a few weeks and want to run at the regional on sunday so a spare or thicker one would save any issues. My friend prob still has mine on his car so if I pinch it back for spares he can't run. Something uk based prob means it'd be here in time I'd hope. Fingers crossed. Thanks.

Fibre Lyte Si

Its the exact same tower as the 501x. Mine is 4mm, shouldnt need to be any thicker.

http://www.fibre-lyte.co.uk/fl/cars/tamiya/trf501x.html

EDIT remember 4mm is special order and is a bit dearer. He`s usually quick to turn around. Where are you racing ?

Thanks guys. TBH I'm ok at the mo, but like to carry one just in case. I'm gonna order one from fibrelite in the morning in 4mm all being well. You'd hate the Focus Rich. lol

I'm running a 5mm one from fibrelyte. The upper bulkhead bend ever so slightly in a crash long ago, but the tower survived.

Suggestion..... I ran my car the weekend with alloy screws holding the towers on. After one MASSIVE crash, i broke the heads off all the front and rear tower screws. Good idea i think as towers dont have a scratch and alloy screws are cheeeeeeeap They are still strong enough to take normal abuse

Good idea Griff. The std towers seem a bit weak as do the wishbones. I have cracked a few wishbones, they usually get me to the end of the heat though

As you know, if you go too thick with the tower then it tends to bend the next weakest link - the top alloy tower mount. Not easy to get hold of those plus £ id imagine

I would stick to the standard shock towers.I think the alloy parts would be a lot more money than £7.00 shock tower lol

Trouble is i broke my front tower first run on astro and cracked the rear on the second meeting. They usually hold together but they crack. Ive done 2 rears in total now in 4 meetings. Running 4mm front and rear now.

Hell yeah, gonna find some nice cheese screws and stop doing all these front towers!!

By the way, don't know how many of you are running the metal shock top bushing?? Since switching to them I've done no end of front towers, but never bend the top screws anymore!!
