Default Which 2wd ?

Hi,

I currently race TC and looking to have a go at some off road at a local club. I was set on getting a B4.1 Team but now looking at the Cougar SV. Which one of those would be best for starting out or something else or do I just go 4wd ? and also what speedo/motor ?

Thanks.

S.A.W, what cars are they running at your local club?

I know its a cliche answer but you need to factor in how easy it is for you to get spares and also setup help/advice from your local club racers.

Also a mid motor car handles alot differently to a rear mounted car and generates alot of different opinions from different drivers (especially the sponsored ones..)

The B4.1 is a great car, rear mounted motor, parts are easy to get from many UK shops.
On the other hand you have the XFactory X6^2, mid mounted motor, uses alot of the B4 parts are therefore spares are easy to get hold of at meetings. There are also alot of guys here who have them who are more than happy to help with advice.

Myself I run an Atomic Carbon S2, mid mounted, but discontinued hence why I couldnt recommend one to you.

If you are a newbie happy to just get around your track for a cheap days racing then the B4.1RTR is a great bit of kit and again there are alot of helpful people on here with setup and tips aplenty.

If you are looking to develop yourself and battle for trophies then take a look at the X6^2 and the Xfactory forum here on oOple.

Hope that helps a little

Hi,

I should of said I'd rather a kit as I like building them, If I got a RTR i'd only get a kit a week later

I think at my local club it's AE and Schumacher and some others but I've only been down once to have a look and as I new to off road I'm not that clued up with what was what down there

Is it best to start with 2wd ? rather than 4wd r does it not really matter.

Thanks.

S.A.W i used to run tourers before i came back to offroad and found it so tough at the end of the day it's personal preference. For me i'm going back to the B4.1 after running an X-6 and a squared. As cosie said see what everyone else is running at your club and look at part's availability at you local model shop. oOPle is the best place for anything you need to know mate so don't be afraid to ask.
I would start with 2WD mate because if you can master that then 4WD will come naturally.
Good luck mate.

Well I think I'm going to go for a B4.1 Team as I do like it alotand it's the one I've been looking at since an interest in the off road.

What motor/speedo do most people use off road ? I've used a lot of different one's in my TC and settled on the GM but also liked the SP.

What tyres/inserts will I need ?

Thanks.

Try to get a drive of a Kyosho RB5 to see if you like it. Loads of rear end grip but without loosing steering. Just about the easiest conventional 2wd car to drive I have ever since the mid 80s!
