i run a t1fk05 at club and it goes well. the only real downside on the track is the amount the balance of the car changes with the grip level. we run indoors on very low grip tarmac which changes a lot from week to week, one week the car will work, the next it is hard work to get it round. does anyone know if something like a t2 008 would be more balanced and consistent and a worthwhile upgrade?? or is there another car that may work well. i have spent a lot of time making the fk handle and can not seem to get rid of this trait. when grip is very low i sometimes drop back to an old tc3 which although it is slower, just works and is always driveable, just wish the xray would do this

Generally speaking, I have always felt that the older XRAY's are too stiff. Great on high grip, troublesome on low grip. The newer XRAYs have a little more flex but I have no idea whether a '008 will be the answer to your problems...
Generally, if the grip is low or inconsistent, a car with a bit more chassis flex, and with a slightly more rearward weight distribution will be easier to drive. Back when I ran on slippy floors for club racing, the Tamiya TA-05R was the most confident car I ever owned. More to the point, a lot of mid-level drivers tried that chassis and were instantly quick with it, whereas the same drivers would run XRAYs or Corallys (both very stiff cars) and struggle to get around. If your TC3 is more driveable, then surely with a little setup time you could make it just as quick as the XRAY, if not quicker? The TC3 is no slouch, and that will be the cheapest solution. |

the xray has a vast amount more grip than the tc3, the xray has been modified to give very good flex which increased overall grip a lot, it is just the change in balance that is the problem. the tc3 is a really good well balanced car, whatever setup changes i make to it take it off the sweeet spot it is on at the moment, it just really lacks the overall mechanical grip the xray has.

I don't think there is anything wrong with the FK05 you have, all cars will have a vastly different balance when the grip changes. Getting a different car isn't going to help you here, you just need a different setup for when the grip is high and when the grip is low.
Check out some setups here, http://www.petitrc.com/reglages/xray...XRayT1FK05.htm Generally big things to change are spring rates, oil weight and roll bar thickness. Another thing to change would be the roll centres, these can make a huge difference. Hope that helps.
