The lazer seems to break easy if you turn it over. The Yok looks nice but is a lot of money. The Losi (XX4) also seems a little weak at the moment.

Have you considered the X10? Much stronger than the old Preds, possibly stronger than a lot of the other current 4wds, and getting some very good results at the moment.

What part of the country are you in? I'd try to get to some race meetings if I was you.

i have a lazer its good sound car yes the front brace can be weak but the kyosho aftermarket part cures it and is very good out the box ive run mine for six meetings one part broke and the was when i hit a steel post so durability is not an issue also its a very quick car

The ZX5 is a good car out of the box, but IMHO it needs the following hop-ups to make it 100% reliable :
  1. front alu hinge pin brace
  2. front alu shock tower holder
  3. those new X-pattern shock seals
  4. thungsten or ceramic diff balls. I used Associated stealth

This seems a lot, but consider the fact that the ZX5 is considerably cheaper compared to its competition.

I normally do not trash other cars, but 9 years ago I raced a Predator and I still wake up screaming at night I hope they've made the X-10 A LOT stronger then it was and also more capable of dealing with bumpy tracks.

I've ran a XX4 for 12 months and found the front wish bones to be the weak point of the car. (even broke one landing on all fours off a jump!)

I've since changed to an X10 infact a very familiar X10 that Jimmy reviewed (Chassis Number 28 ) Only done one meeting with it so far which broke the carbon fibre steering link (which is now replaced with a steel link on the new cars!)

The X10 is a much stronger car than the previous Preds. IMHO it is as strong or stronger than the current crop of 4wd cars. The problem now is that cars are so fast most cars will break in a big shunt.

Also Ttech are working very hard improving parts (for extra performance and increased reliability) and developing new parts. I can honestly say I have never known a company develop a car at the rate Ttech is doing at the moment, I am very, very impressed!

To be honest I do agree there, TTech do seem to be developing new stuff all the time for the X10. No matter what people think of the predator, it's a good thing that they are so serious and dedicated to it.
The bumpy track handling can't be that bad with Yardy qualifying 2nd and winning the first leg of the A at tiverton national. That track was so bumpy it was insane!.
My XX4 was pretty good on the track but still it was getting thrown all over the place.

The cynical (and the been there when it first came out) might have another veiw on the 'developement' of the TTech, I do remember one guy having new wishbones sent to him every few weeks... all different, lol. It is whatever floats your boat in the end. Personaly I think the Pred has lost it's 'advantage' that it had in the past as other companies have caught up and the cells have made the XX4 viable.
