During the last 2 events i have been too i have seen numerous laptops trackside. Nice Touch!!

I will be having a blast at the nationals next year now i have a grade which will get me in.

So i assume you have to download a programme from somewhere to be able to see the racing via the laptop, could i have a linky linky please.

If you was talking about Coventry, we got the program from Race Control.

Yeah, at all BRCA National type events, the timing team has a USB Memory Stick that has a the BBK software on. You'l also need the WiFi WEP Key, which the team have aswell.

It works on 99% of laptops, although I have seen a couple this year that point blank refuse to connect to the WiFi network. Don't get me wrong that 1% would probably connect after a bit of poking at the config. Just not had the time to dedicate to it at the race meetings.

One last point, just bare in mind that the size of some pitting fields mean that you could be to far away to get a WiFi signal. This is made worse at some tracks by the steel containers that house race control.

No.... not with the current set-up that the National team uses.

It is possible, but the BBK software requires a web-server to post results to. You then just browse to that local web-site with your PDA device. In that type of set-up I don't think it's totally real-time either (although I could be wrong)

If anyone has any problems connecting come find me and i should bee able to help. Theres loads of little things that stops wifi connecting properly.

With more and more people trying to get into one little router it might be the time for the BRCA to buy a decent access point to boost the signal and share some of the loading.

I did kind of mention it at one of the nats and nothing really happened. Shame really as we just chucked out 25 wireless access points

one thing that will help is having an aerial high up, you could get a pole and put one on that also.

Not a case of complaining, its a case of people trying to make a very useful system more reliable and useable.

Its a very good peice of kit, and thumbs up to the BRCA for providing it
