Default what motor advice?!

I have a xp sc450-bl esc with a 3300kv reedy motor (the standard b4.1 system) and i want to upgrade the motor with the same esc,

Im not sure what the esc is limited to??? I believe they do a pack with 6100kv motor so guessing this is the limit?

Secondly what motor should i get? Esc is sensorless but hear you can use sensored motors! Looking for max 7t and minimum of 9.5t to make it a worthy upgrade.

Just dont want to melt the esc and want a quicker motor!

Thanks for any advice!

Speedpassion V3's are good and their bullet connector system is very convenient - no need to unsolder when changing motor etc.

Not sure what your Esc can handle - the SP motors are sensored. If it can take it, an 8.5 should offer a decent increase in speed.

Well from what I spotted in 2 minutes on google it seems you could put a 6100Kv motor on it as you suggest, so I'd stick to that limit. It's not a very high spec esc in terms of racing, but plenty good enough for getting a car running and bashing around, maybe some club racing even, so not worth the risk of blowing it!

It is a sensorless only ESC though so you can't use a sensored motor with it.

As for motor size, what are you using it for? Racing or bashing? Big space, little space?

If your racing then bigger/faster isn't always better, much better to get something suited to the space your running in...but if your bashing and just looking for high speed in open spaces then go to the 6100 and enjoy...just try not to hit anything...the B4.1 will easily handle it, but a fast car is only fun when your car's not broken and the faster it's going the more damage you can do

How do you mean its a basic spec? What do i get extra with a racing esc?

What turn rating is 6100kv? So i know what maximum turn rating it will handle.

Finally i will be using it to race on carpet and astro, club racing...

Thanks

The higher quality esc's handle more power, have different tuning/programming options, and are generally more robust. Look at the power ratings on the top spec esc's, you'll notice they are quite a bit higher.

Kv ratings do not directly equate to turns in any sensible way, but 6100 is pretty high/fast in terms of sensorless motors I think, so depending how big the tracks are you might consider using a slightly lower kv rating to give you more control, particularly indoors, where the tracks are typically smaller.

If your getting serious about racing then most people use sensored motors/esc's. This gives better control/feel at low revs as the esc knows where the rotor is at all times.

Sensorless will be fine for a bit of club racing though. I know many people use them and are very happy. It will be a good starting point if your new to it all. The higher spec, faster stuff can be much harder to drive until your used to it all.

If you going to a club or thinking about it, ask the other racers, people will be more than happy to advise you.

Hope it helps
