Tom, looks like the new LRP touch screen is a good charger.

I use one of these....

Dont see the point in using anything more expensive. As long as it balances the lipos it cant do much else

Core-RC UAC40. Great charger with tons of features, as long as your not after a charge rate of over 5A then it really is the best I recommend. Built in PSU means you can use it at home or at the track without purchasing extras, comes with common charge cables for the usual connectors.

Default While not the best, my Imax B6 is good enough

Not sure what charger is the best as it depends on how you define it, right? What is important to you might not be to the guy next to you in the pits.

I use a cheap Imax B6 with an old PC PSU. It works like a charm and I am pleased with it. I really see no point in spending £150+ on one single charger as some do. I would rather get an extra battery for the extra money.

At first, I double checked the Voltage after balancing the cells but I stopped doing that once I felt confident there was no need to do that. I always end up with 4.20 V on both cells, which is all I want. Current electronics and software is that good, even low cost chargers are now OK. I would rather use two cheaper chargers in parallel than one expensive one that still can only charge one pack at a time. In Sweden we have strict rules about charging at 1C maximum, so the ones with 15 Amp charge currents are really not useful for us.

I use the Hyperion charger. I have the basic 0606i (recent version) and I am very happy with the charge it gives, the only issue I have with it is that the discharge is only 1A so the "store" mode takes a while to happen. The better models in the range have upgradeable firmware too.

On the topic of quality... there is a difference between the chargers that are professionally engineered and developed before manufacture, and the chargers that are an undeveloped copy of an existing design using low-grade components.

Most of the cheap chargers you see on eBay (and a lot of the own-brand chargers you see from UK distributors) are the latter. Companies like Bantam and Hyperion actually develop the chargers themselves and have them built to higher standards.

Granted, you don't often hear of chargers or batteries blowing up, but battery care is a pretty serious business, and I don't risk the no-name stuff on it.

What he said

There's lots of posts on various forums around that the "clones" use cheaper less exact resistors, so the cells don't balance as well as they appear to!
