Default diff oil - motor temp link?

If I run a heavier diff oil, say 10,000, would it lead to higher motor temps? I would think it would and I have a feeling that's what's happening to mine but at the same time some of the drivers in hotter countries than mine are running heavier oils. I've got no idea anymore.

What diff oil you use shouldnt make any difference to motor temp. Ive used 20k diff oil before and had no issues with the motor getting too hot.

What problems are you having? Are you blowing motors or are they just getting really hot? what motor you using and on what gearing?

Diff oil affects how much one wheel can turn in relation to the other, not how much both turn when going forwards. Hence it does not provide forward resistance and should not affect the running temperature

Thanks for that, I did have incorrect gearing but that is sorted now. The set up was getting hot but not blowing (probably close). I haven't run with the new gearing yet but I think this was a major part. I've cleaned out/replaced bearings too and it all seams free. The only reason I've brought this subject up for is to try and minimise as many reason for heat build up as possible. The last 4 races have been outside in around 37/38 degree temps which also doesn't help much.
