Updated Ansmann 2.4 gig radio

I have an Ansmann W3 2.4 gig set and have noticed that they've updated it - it's now the W3.1 Are the new receivers compatible with the W3 kit? Visually, they look identical but is there something new with the innards? I was considering buying another receiver for my new car.

I think the new type are FHSS, if so they aren't compatible.

I only know because I had the same issues with sanwa gear (who make the ansmann radios I believe).
