Question play in layshaft.

Hi,

got the revised gearbox and layshaft that schumacher very kindly replaced for me.

While replacing the parts I realised that theres a bit of play in the layshaft, just wondering if this is normal, ive swapped over the bearings and it doesn't make a difference.

Does anyone know if theres supposed to be play in the layshaft, I didn't notice it till I saw the white gear out of line next to the slipper.

Thanks

hey,

my cougar have the new layshaft but not the new gearbox, and i dont have play on the layshaft, so i think it will be the gearbox thats cause that problem.
today i have orderd a new layshaft and gearbox for my other cougar.
i hope i dont have the same problem with my new gearbox/layshaft.
grtz jeffrey

I have just received the new shaft and gearbox today, so I have not build it yet... but for my old gear gearbox was there layshaft play both up&down and sideways.. too much of my opinion, so I made a 0.3mm spacer to prevent the sideways play!!! and the up&down play was also a minimum after that.. I find out the layshaft bearing on small gear side only touch a bit the hole in the gear box.

Will add some spacers if it not suppose to be like that then. I'll try the old gearbox to see if it's the same.

Thanks
