Default gearing for 1/12 scale

Folks just looking for advice on gearing / rollout. I run a serpent s120 link with 6.5t motor just wondering with regards gearing /rollout is there a ideal starting point or gear ratio that should be used to get the most out of this type of car.

Which 6.5?
Which ESC?
Which Batteries, Li-Po 3.7v, Life 6.6v or Ni-Mh's 4.8v?
Current tyre size?

As for car it doesn't matter as all pan cars have the same 1:1 dircect drive.

here's a rollout spreadsheet I use, download & save
http://www.carsrcracing.co.uk/wp-con...outchartga.xls

back in 2008 I ran this Nosram 6.5s on 40mmpr (give or take 0.5mm))

Start around 38mm/rev, and then see what the car is like to drive and how hot the motor is. Use the gear charts available above to select the gears you need.

If the car leaps out of the corner, and the motor gets hot, drop down to about 36 and try again. If it spins the wheels up and seems slow on the straight, go to 40. You can go on from either of those to find the ratio you need.

If you have a speedo with timing-on-the-fly, start using it only when you've sorted the car with no timing. HTH

With that esc I'm not sure if it has a booster built in. If not then have you got a voltage booster or receiver pack to 'boost' the voltage to run the servo. If no booster then google RC Dynamics it comes recommended

if running a v2 it should have a red dot on the box thats to indicate if its a newer one, however some of them needed a booster some did not, just some wierd things to do with the firmware.

Never needed a booster pack or extra reciever battery with this speedo. Its rated as working from 3.2v upwards so its fine for 1S lipo and has worked now for 4 month with out any extras. The orginal version 1 was rated at 4.8v and higher. I didnt see a red on the esc but with version 2 printed on the side i think it fair to say it the new type with the latest software.
