Default Global Shipping

Hi all, just wondering if anyone had any idea which courier ships globally the cheapest? I have tried Parcelforce, UPS and DHL and the prices for shipping a car weighing 2.75 kgs is ridiculous! Cheapest so far to the USA is Parcelforce untracked £72.15!!! If you want a tracking number then you are looking at £91.30 . I am selling one of my cars on ebay and all the international interest soon fades when they realise they can buy a new kit for the price of my shipping!! Any clues on who would be cheaper would be greatly appreciated.

Hey Scouse,
Take the wheels and corners off, and pack it up in as small box as possible. Take it to the post orriffice and ask for "International Signed For". This is what I use for anything I send of personal nature. its faster than expected and seems reliable without costing the earth.

I do shipping for a living, and the full tarrif rates of UPS, Fedex and DHL are all ridiculous, plus they all charge approx 10% for fuel surcharge which you won't have noticed, and perhaps also a surcharge for "out of area", if the address for delivery is out in the sticks.... The reason for that, I beleive is to scare off the irregular shippers, and so lets the Sales Reps go in to the bigger shippers and offer a %age discount off tariff inorder to make the rates competitive depending on how much is spent per month.

So that leads me to my other option, if you know anybody who works for a company which ships to USA, chances are they have discounted rates to that country. If you can pull a favour they could perhaps ship that package for you? its a long shot i know.

Chris

Hi, break the parcel up into smaller/less weight items as there is a 2kg theshold on royal mail and parcelforce, then the prices above that go silly.
i have done it myself with a police academy (v2) to canada and it was cheaper for postage to break the car into two boxes.
Sly.
