Hello chaps......right im a tad lost in the land of gear ratios. Bit too complicated for me!.
![]() Ive fitted an LRP X12 10.5 to my SC10. I have ran the truck in the past using a Novak 6.5 motor and had a few overheating issues. I ended up dropping the the spur gear to a 78 tooth. Now here comes the complicated bit.... in the motor instuctions it says to run the 10.5 at a ratio of 9.0:1 for "truck off road". erm so any ideas what pinion i should be using? ![]() any help would be fabbo! Thanks! ![]()

In the Factory Team Manual AE are now recommending a 19 tooth pinion with an 84 tooth spur for a 10.5 motor.
With the 78 try an 18 tooth pinion, although I am not sure it will mesh!

Martin - at the fete the other week I ran with an 18 pinion on the kit spur - and that was with a 6.5 in on the Losi Excelorin ESC. Got hot but not stupidly so, and was plenty quick enough.
Hope to race against you on Sunday with the old battle wagon :-) Dave. |

A 6.5t motor is also better suited to touring car sized wheels[10.5 should be better suited and run cooler],if i were you i would gear it down as much as you can to try and compensate for the high revs of the motor,if it`s still getting too hot,try turning the power down if you can with your set up. Truck or buggy wheels are bigger, they gear the car up,so a lesser KV motor works better for those types of cars. HTH S. |
