I know CML had an Associated test day there a few weeks back, but that was all organised properly and advertised on the CML site so it can't be anything to do with that can it?

some drivers practiced on the saturday 2 weeks before the national was due to take place, the track has to be closed 15 days before a national so they fell foul of the rules,i dont think it was intentional by the drivers as most thought it was 14 days.

i know who they were tho but as i said, just a misunderstanding but rules are rules:

[b] Tracks must be closed for a period of 15 days prior to any National meeting, with the exception of one open race meeting which may be held either 14 or 7 days prior to the National, by the organising club. Any driver found to be using the track during the closed period will be disqualified from the National Meeting

Default Hmm

My question has to be Why 15 days ?? I always thought it was 2 weeks ? If you actually add up the hours the track was actually closed to practise taking into account the sunday meeting and the exact time the track was run on on the Sunday of the National then the track was actually only a few hours short of being shut for the 24*15 ----days anyway ??

Why 15 ??? Why not 16 or 17 or 18. So anyone can practise all day on the friday and thats OK under the rules .. I always thought that the track was shut after the warmup so if the track was changed then no one could run on it and gain an advantage. Seeing how The Deerdale track stayed the same is there an advantage ????

I suppose in theory 15 days stops there being a proper / normal race meeting on it 2 weeks before and makes sure it's 3 weeks (As most people work mon-fri and aren't likely to practise on the Friday (16 days before)?? It sort of makes sense but i know what you mean, may as well make it 21 days or something if that's what they want to stop???

Thing is - with Astro tracks, 2 weeks, 3 weeks or even 8 weeks before unless the weather is seriously different, i can't see how either is any more advantage than the other - if the Layout & Features are the same, that's what you want to practise on no matter how close to the national it is.
