Default Hop Up Centre and Diff Pulleys for 501X

Hi All,

Tamiya are bringing out 18T centre pulley's, and 37t diff pulley's, along with new length belts, for the TRF501X. Does anyone know what effect this may have on the car?

I am asking as was about to get replacement 16T pulley and belts anyway, may as well get the new ones if there is some advantage?

Dave

bigger pulleys all round I guess just means less stress on the parts, looser belts can be run for less friction etc.

I wonder how much longer the belts are?

I just tried to fit the white 36T pulley up front and the belt was too tight, even at the loosest setting.

It will be interesting to see if the different internal ratios affect the car in any way, as there are now many different combinations you could run.

I've been running 18T centre pulleys on my 415 for now a year and a half. For me, the main advantage is a much longer lifetime of both belts and centre pulleys. The belts will be 3mm longer (1 tooth) for this change.

I got myself a set of the little blue alloy belt tension adjusters and these have stopped my belt slipping on the standard pulleys.Ive been running my belts 2 clicks looser than what the manual suggested. No problems yet.

Only the 51213 TA05 center pulley fits the TRF501X.

The other alternative coming soon is the 53989 Center Pulley (18T), should be available in June.

It remains to be seen if Tamiya will offer a centre one-way option in the future, but that would require a new drive hub and one-way pulley.

For now the only one-way alternative is the 53951 TRF501X Front One-Way.

Hello,

I drive this new belt, but the belt is not from Tamiya. It holds as double as the original from Tamiya. If somebody needs some of the belts, please send a PM.

So this new belt, 18T center pulley and 37T diff pulley is really just a durability improvement? Jimmy, do you or Stu run this setup? I'd just like some more feedback on it. Thanks to anyone for some help.
