Recently bought a secondhand B4.
It needs new outdrives, so as I will be taking the gearbox apart I thought I would ask if people usually do anything special to service the gearbox ? certain grease etc ??? Only run 4wd before. |

Change the diff plates.
Use AE stealth diff lube in the main balls and black AE grease on the thrust race. Their really easy to rebuild, just make sure you clean it properly before rebuilding. |

And keep note of which way all the parts go in and dont mix up the thrust balls and the diff balls. They may look alike but they will not work if mixed up.

Make sure you rebuild the diff over a tray because finding the tiny diff balls wont be the highlight of your day if you happen to loose them!

Mark the gears so that they mesh up the same each time you re-build.
Gears last much longer this way. MiCk B. :-)
