Hi All
I've recently fitted a Speed Passion V3.0 Comp 4.5T to my Cat SX. I'm running it with a SP GT 2.0 and Trakpower 30/35C LiPo's. It goes really well and I'm very happy with the performance. Only problem is I keep having issues with my rear diff. I had a 10.5T in there before and I never got this problem. So when I rev high on the throttle after around 15-20mins of running the diff starts slipping so there is no longer any transfer of power to the wheels, the diff is just spinning internally. If I take it out and tighten it up then alls well again for a bit, but then it slips again after around 15 mins. I bought a brand new fully assembled pro-spec diff incase it was me having put it together badly, or it was knackered. Unfortunately the same problem started happening immediately. I tightened this one up and then it ran for around 20mins again before the same problem occurred again ![]() Any ideas what I can do to prevent this happening? Is the one way diff worth a go? what conditions is that normally used in? Thanks ![]() |

Sounds like it's just coming loose - getting that grub screw really tight is the key.
But don't get it so tight you snap the end off your Hudy like I did last week... |

Haha thats funny
I just snapped the head off my hudy this morning too. I hadn't tried tightening it with the hudy before, I was using little allen keys so it will be interesting to see if that last serious tighten which snapped the hudy tip will do the trick. I'd still be interested to hear what the one way diff is used for? |

Dave, I don't have a fix, but i can reassure you that you're not alone, I hade exactly the same problem at the weekend!! I'm only running an Orion Experience 2 in it (3940KW) too, nothing as powerful as a 3.5T!
I took it out for the first time on Sunday having just bought it from ebay but i'd not checked the diffs beforehand. After about 15 mins i noticed poor acceleration, thought it was the slipper but then had NO braking as the front is on a 1 way and found the rear diff was loose and just spinnning the axle. I found the thread in the male diff outer for the thrust screw was cross threaded, so i've ordered a replacement. Now i'm not so sure that was the problem. When i get the parts i'll get it all back together and let you know if i still have the same issues! |

seen this before 90% of the time its caused buy people bashing running for more than 10 Min's and doing donut's or lots of wheels spins everywhere, donut's kill diffs heat builds up and it simply melts the plastic parts then the diff will never work properly no matter how you rebuild them,we have raced ares on a 5.5 turn motor diff tight slipper set so it slips for a second or so from a standing start and done 10-15 Min's practice no bother, but less than a minuet doing donut's and diff is dead

Mine were coming loose too, it was to do with the circlips on the top pf the shim stack being loose or not fitted right. I ordered some repair kits from scumacher for about 4.99 each, then go back to the manual and rebuild them step by step making sure you check the radiused edge of the clip and measuring the two bearing shims at the bottom, they have been perfect since. Sorry if all this is not clear but if you go back to the manual you will see what I mean.
