Default Losi Excelorin esc problem

I know there have been several posts on this.

I used the losi brushless system last year and could not fault it. However yesterday was my first race of 2010. The losi failed me.

For some unknown reason was all working fine when it suddenly stopped. Motor not hot, esc not hot and only 20 seconds into race.

The orange light was on and stayed on. Servo would turn but no throttle. It would not reset. Today went out to try it and now i am able to get power to wheels, however it is only 'full power'.

It is all or nothing and will not move at slower speeds at all.

Sensor wire tested and ok.

Any ideas?

This is what happened to Kam's speedo on Sunday. I fixed it by reinstalling the updated firmware on the ESC and then using a fresh model memory on the transmitter and then going through the inital set-up of the ESC again.

Default Puff of smoke

Was quite pleased with the fact that after leaving the speedo all week until I found time to have a proper look.

Plugged it in and to my amazement the problem was there Settings had slipped off somehow. Deadband on 4, motor reverse on and gone into nimh mode. How?

So i updated firmware, all going really well. Connected it back up and plugged some power....yes i restored to factory settings first. Turned transmitter on, front wheels wobbled that a litlle 'pfff'noise and some blue smoke, not a lot but enough to make me quickly pull out batter wires and save the Vampires

Fair to say, its had it. I have had it for a while though- however it has genuinely raced less than ten meetings in its life, albeit over a year. Anyone know what sort of money horizon will be charge for repair?
It had previously had the orange eye of death but then bounced back....until the smoke came. Lost cause?

Give Horizon Service a call after 9am on Tuesday morning and take it from there.
They're a pretty decent bunch with one of the best service support crews in the business
