Default Power Lag

Hi Guys,

It's been a long time since I've raced an RC buggy and a race meet at the weekend has helped confirm one of my suspicions about my new car...

If I hit full throttle, the car 'stalls' for approx 1/4 - 3/4 of a second before it engages. This feels like a lag or delay in the power being applied. It's most noticable from a standing start but is also evident coming out of corners, in fact any situation where I need an instant burst of power.

During this 'delay' or 'lag' stage, the motor is NOT spinning, so I'm not slipping the differential or slipper. It's almost as if the ESC needs to take a big deep breath before starting the motor!

I'm running a 1/10th 2WD elec buggy (RB5), MTroniks Tempo 11 ESC (punch set to maximum), Team Orion 11x2 motor, HoBao HT-2 transmitter and RX set, GP3300 cells.

All components were new to start except the batteries, these have been cycled a few times but are probably still in need of some further reconditioning.

Every other car at the meeting seemed to have an immediate burst of power whereas mine was slow off the line and hard to handle due varying delays in the power.

Any suggestions as to where I should start to look for a fault?

I have checked all connections, everything is either soldered or plugged with Deans adapters, this problem was present out of the box with both Tamiya and Coralla type connectors.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Martin

make sure the motor has all its capacitors intact, try turning the punch down to see if that help, run a capacitor plugged into a spare slot on the reciever(could be the reciever is being robbed of volts as you hit the throttle)

Agreed.

Running an 11-turn motor on an 11-turn speedo is close to the limit and you can easily go slightly over the edge if your gearing is wrong or something is tight in the transmission.

Also, and more importantly, those Mtroniks speedos are crap.
