Is it the K Series engine by any chance? Head gaskets were a common problem on those .

Now you've got an excuse to take the little engine out and put a real one in...

Not keen on them, too revy and thrashy

I've fed up with the turbo on my Cupra hence why I want a V6!

Any more pics of the Lotus? Is that the EVO Lambo?

Im really surprised a few of the Porkys were able to pull away from it in a straight line drag.

Surely an R32 engine in an Elise wouldnt make it handle right. The Elise's handling characteristics are based on light weight and balance. Put an R32 lump in it and both contradict this, its too heavy and the balance of the car would be completely out of sync

Its certainly something thats tempted me. The car is fully paid off now so rather buy a new car, ive been thinking of an engine transplant. Only thing is, you start doing that but where do you stop. Racing brakes, pads, nitrons, induction kits, splitters, diffusers, radiators, racing seats, harness, throttle body etc etc etc

Head gasket should cost no more than around £400 max, depends how easy it is to get to in an Elise, make sure they are replacing using the multi-layered improved gasket.

I used to work for the company that made the gaskets for the K Series Engines, including the ones for the Lotus Elise Engines....I can't believe the gasket actually lasted 5 years

Have to agree money well spent on these for me!

Get a 2.2 16v Supercharged Vauxhall lump in it 300bhp i hear now!

Stage2 240bhp 215-220 lb ft torque

or the 2.0 16v T VXR lump... how ever much BHP you dare!

Are you talking about these? http://www.eliseparts.com/products/s...ay-adjustable/

Bit expensive like!

I like the toyota engine, pretty quiet and girly sounding though unless you're hammering it
