Default Tamiya motors

Hi Guys,

My son, a friend and I are hoping to get along to our first Faversham meeting this Wednesday and I am preparing a few cars, would a Tamiya sport tuned motor be OK to use? Does anyone use any other Tamiya motors?
Brushed 27t motors seem hard to find these days and as it's our first meeting I didn't want to spend too much before seeing what you guys use.

Also does anyone have a set of old Schumacher yellow's for sale that would fit a Tamiya, I have brought 2 new sets but need a 3rd.

Cheers,
Jon

Hi Jon,

Can't see any problem at all with you running a Tamiya motor until you find your feet.

Pretty much all of us are running 13.5 brushless now, only a couple are running brushed, brushless just has so many advantages. But - as you're only just starting out run with what you have before spending any more.

As for tyres - someone will probably have a set you can use. May be helpful if you say what car they are for in case someone has as set mounted on suitable rims already.

Regards,
Dave.

PS - I think I'm the only person at the club who collects Tamiya 540 motors these days - for my Mardave oval racing!

Thanks Dave, I've hunted round in the loft and think I've found a couple of old 27t motors, I'll give these a skim and try them, if they are no good I'll resort to the Tamiya Sport tuned which I think are 27T or maybe 23T but don't feel that powerful!!

2 of the cars are Tamiya (a Gravel hound and a Dark Impact) so they have the standard Tamiya hex and ones an Associated B44 (if it comes by courier tomorrow ) but I have new tyres for that and 1 of the Tamiya's.

I also race Mardave's at Maritime, do you race yours on the Oval at Medway?

Many Thanks Brett, I'll be happy to give you some dosh for them if you've got them. I'll probably need to get a set of Tamiya rims as well as the Gravel Hound tyres look well glued to their rims and won't come off easily!

Thank you both for your help,

Cheers,
Jon

Just found the yellow full spikes, to be honest they have not got much life left.

You can have them for free if they will help you out.

Will be pitting in the corridor on the left as you go in, if you want them

Brett

Thanks Chaps, I can't make it this week and hope to do alternate weeks. Are any of you racing at the SE BRCA meeting this Sunday 25th?
