Default What .21 Engine

Hi there

Iam currently getting into racing 1/8th off-road from previously racing 10th scale electric off-road, I recently purchased an Xray XB808 and was wondering what .21 engine you would recommend for me. I will only ever be running at club level at the Maidstone track and Great Braxted track. Budget isn’t a problem but dont want to spend whats not needed just want an engine that’s powerful enough to keep up but still reliable,

Cheers, Sam.

Right if your coming from electrics the Reedy 121 vr is the best for you as its very very smooth not unlike an electric motor with very linear power delivery. I run them and think theyre the mutts nuts, just remember to ALWAYS add atleast 1 tooth to your clutch bell as the reedy doesnt scream like an RB or Novarossi but the bottom end grunt is awesome.

The Alpha plus range are also getting rave reviews, but my personal choice would be the reedy all day long with either a jp4 or Reedys own pipe

If you get the Reedy like already said get the AE 2035 pipe or the AE 2039 pipe or possibly the HN 2047. Reedy is slightly more picky on tuning but once you've got it, it doesn't really change that much and is very cheap compared to the RB/Novarossi stable. Next engine would be a OS V-Spec because they're meant to be fairly easy to tune and are fairly good money for what they are. Put a HN 2047 on you should be set to go.

Default engine choice

I would reccommend the Nova rossi Plus 4.

very linear power delivery. Excellent quality, and good longevity.

The only downfall is the cost to rebuild is quite high. Treated well though it should do around 5-6 gallons maybe more before any parts need replaceing.

The other benefit is if your a smooth driver you should get 10 plus mins a tank. A guy at coventry had been getting 12-13 mins a tank which is excellent

Well you could get the Novarossi plus 4, or the New Alpha range, or the Go range
