Default 3 way duel review RB5,XXX-CR,B4

hi all, i was wondering if u could all have a vote in this....

should jimmy make a back to back duel review between the 3 2wd cars... losi xxx-cr, associated B4, kyosho RB5.

i would like this because im now goin to buy myself a knew 2wd buggy, and would like the pro and cons of the 3 compared. for example....

weak piont, electric fitments, setups, ease of gettin parts, the biuld, any hopups/modifications needed to make them better etc.

thanx jordan

To be honest mate, i run a xxxcr but i think the b4 will come out on top in your 3 way shootout.
Losi arent great for parts in the uk although carl (bigred) does a good job at bringing them in.
Also the B4 is great in the way you only change minor things from 1 track to another.

Please close this thread before this old arguement starts AGAIN!!

1. Everything fits in every car.
2. If your local modelshop does not stock parts for that car, don't buy it unless ......
3. You need to know a good mail order company. Most will stock most parts for most cars.
4. Stick with what you know. Don't you already have a xxx-cr? The learning has mostly been done if you built the car.

Sorry, rant over

I thought that the EA3 was quite brittle when i broke a wishbone and a shock tower quite easily. Compared to the B4 i would say its a bit brittle-er.
Not sure about the RB5

well my track is dominated by 4wd, theres only a few of us who actually own 2wd but when i broke my chassis i thought that it was time to part with the losi and get another car because its not the first time ive broke something i that car. theres only 3 xxx-cr and 3 b4's they seem to be pretty equal. but i love the look of the RB5, but no1 has one at my club.. but parts are easily found from my model shop and also i have mail order shop sorted aswell.

RB5 is also the cheapest out of the 3

the rb5 is VERY solid. also cheaper than the other two. i prefer it to my old B4, it has plenty of steering but is also stable at the rear.
spares are also dirt cheap.

B4 or RB5 over the Losi every time.

yep, agree there too. after running the B4 and the RB5, i prefer the RB5.
I've had some BIG crashes with it and all I've broke is a turnbuckle. replaced them with b4 titanium and all is fine.

I would reccomend the atomic carbon shock towers, as theres more adjustment.

And if its the cheapest.....no question about it.
Spares seem readily available from a few shops, so theres no problems there.

Got some stickers to make so I dunno if I will get chance to put some photos and words on the RB5 towers up, but the middle hole on the rear B4 tower is like the first NEW hole on the Atomic rear tower.. In other words with the stock rear tower you can't get a similar shock angle to the b4... Now I don't have a xxxcr to compare against so the B4 was the only choice when reviewing the RB5 and trying to get it working nicely...

If woody didn't need the rb5 then I'd nick it for the euros as I think it would be an interesting drive. I think all three of these big players have similar levels of performance and it comes down to what you like, what people you know are racing and how easy / cheap to get spares are.

It would be cool to do a little 'shoot out' but I don't like to do things by halves and doing it to a level that I'd like (magazine quality at least) would take so much time and effort. If they didn't pay me so much (3 peanuts) I'd quit my job and play with cars all day

I love my Losi, and would never see myself buying a B4, either CR, BK1, or RB5.
