Default Heatshrink

Didn't put this in the electrics section as it's more a general enquiry.

Anyone know where I can get heatshrink big enough to go round a 4 cell Nimh pack in [][][][] configuration?

Not been able to find anything large enough so far - I run them this way so I can still put them on an LRP tray hence needing the bigger heatshrink.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Hey,

2 cell heat shrink should do.

That's what I used to use for saddle packs for 4wd.

Okay - thanks. My original post does say it's for 4 cell packs though. And that it needs to slide over the cells the other way round so the terminals are still exposed to fit on an equaliser tray.

Ah..... I think I understand now more what mean.

Don't think you'll get heat shrink big enough for what you want.
But what you could do is, shrink the packs as per the photo, 4 cells.
Then cut away the heat shrink, where it covers the connecting bar between each cell, this would then allow the equaliser to make a connection, as well as the heat shrink holding the packs together.

Rather than use heatshrink why not just use cocktail sticks and superglue to hold the cells together. This will be just as strong but will allow access for the balance board.
Also heatshrink is quite a good insulator so your cells will run cooler without it.

Have tried superglueing the cells but after a few hits (Mardave banger racing) they come apart. Must admit I haven't tried with cocktail sticks though.

And Mick - to be honest I really hadn't thought about your suggestion - may well give that a go. Simple when you think about it

Edit - now found heatshrink large enough from an Ebay seller called heatshrink-online.
