Chaps that have been before or are going this year (Pidge, Tony, Matt, Si etc) ?

What’s the craic with tyres, spell it out to me. How long to fronts/rears last in 2wd and 4wd. What are the tyres and is that a defo? (I’ve lost my information from Danny already  )

What’s the tyres in the wet and how do they last?

Any other important info I should know? Going to be ordering very soon so really need to know please!

We’re travelling Wednesday so to have Thursday and Friday practise

Dan

Didn't you post the exact same questions a few months ago? Didn't I answer? Or am I losing my mind?

Short answer: yellow minipins and stagger ribs. Last all day if needed.

Wet: BB pink minipins.

Actually you may well be right, I'll have a look.

Not that you do 4wd but does one set last all day then too?

No, 4WD fronts wear out faster.

last year yellows in 2wd lasted all day.

in 4wd 2-3 sets of yellows would be plenty, although many people used one new set per run in 4wd. Totally unnecessary, i reckon.

A lot of the fast guys in 4wd were using cut & shut tyres to avoid the ballooning factor....

Yeah.. Cut'n'Shut Yellow MiniPins are the best tyre. It a bit of a mamouth task to do though. If I remember right, you reduce the width, circumference and the side-wall height. Something like 4 different cuts and glue lines, but it's worth it for the ultimate laptimes.

a lot of the german guys were just removing three rows of spikes to avoid having to reduce the tire wall....they were plenty fast enough as well. they did'nt alter the width. they used to, apparently but the extra effort was not displayed in their lap times, so they said

What's the story with inserts then (a bit last minute I know)?

Also is there a shop there with stocks of BB pins in case it rains?

Cheers,

Dan

In Schum minipins? Not relevant.

Or in BB pinks?

Both to be honest.

Not relevant? Literally any insert is OK in mini pins? I know what you means as they have self supporting sidewalls.

For BB pinks: no-one really knows. A Losi insert is a safe bet, I think. It's what many people use. Though I suspect BB white ones might give more grip.

It'll be dry, so don't worry about it! :-)

You sound confident, how confident? Confident enough to just bring T-shirts and shorts? its just that I have run out of space in my case!

So, Elvo, what do you suggest regarding tyres ? Cut'n Shut "heavy" (width, circumference and side-wall height), "light" (circumference only) or nothing at all ?
I'm just about gluing mines.

Dan & Chris you will have a great time! it is by far my most favorite meeting of the year!! may have something to do with the large beer tent and lots of nice yound belgium ladies!! Note to self.... do not go and see Will torer or how ever you spell his name!! he is the warm up guy for all the old ladies....... All will become clear when you get there but it is a shame you guys are not camping as it is a blast!! some people have been known to sleep on the rostrum!!

Tyres i run same inserts as i would do in the UK so no worries there. Last year in 4wd i cut the tyres in the way sleigh mentions and it is a nightmare but was good!! but in the end i only ended up taking out the circumference and the tyre wall upto the schumacher text on the side wall.

Can explain when we are there or see Lee/Truman/Roundy as think they will be there before me and Matt make it.

Normally MCN models are there with tyres so i would get in quick when you get there!!

Si

On a serious note guys - i think every year that we've been, there has been some rain either in the evening or over night!!!!!

I am so not ready, haven't touched my cars since Bury - just not has the time, so will have to do them "on the fly" thursday/Friday.
