I have got 2 of these systems and i am yet to be concinced if they are going to be better/less hassle than my original brushed stuff.
I have already sent 1 of the systems back to Apex to see if they can find a fault with it and my remaining 1 in my 4WD glitches at low speeds.Im running a 4.5 Sintered and although it seems very quick it feels very glitchy at low speeds. At Bury Metro recently Dan Greenwood(Thanks again) loaned me his Novak 7.5 motor in my 2WD and this seemed very good.It was smooth and quite quick. Has anybody else had problems with their LRP 2007 systems and could anybody offer advice to stop the glitching at low speeds.Thanks.Chris. |

what radio/rx and servo are you using?
my bet is the one you sent back is fine. no issue with it at all. I have had many issues because the BEC is not strong enough to deal with Spektrum, KO digital servo and a PT along with a hot brushed or LRP only BL motor. No issue with the new orion BL motor or the novak BL motor Glitching at low speed and no response under full throttle. There are a number of fixes. On my TC edition I have added an extra power cap to the spare rx port and this solved the problem. On the 2007 in my 2WD I have run the blue fet wire to the +ve on a spare slot on the rx to solve the glitching. alternatively change to JR or Airtronics servo and this solves the problem too. If you are using a different setup to mine then I cant really comment but I would go with another power cap first. It seems that the LRP motors draw just a bit more current than the Orion BL or Novak BL I have tried and the power cap solved the problem. Another twisted way I was going to fix it was to go back to my KO FM module as I have no issues at all with that installed ![]() Ben |

Same problem here too, fitted SPM1600 (power cap) and it works fine

Hi Chris,
the 4.5 sintered motor is a very 'hot' motor for off-road, its a very aggressive motor. its also using the very 'snatchy' sintered rotor. the 7.5 will always be a lot smoother and will 'crawl' away from a stop much smoother, but on the flipside will be a slower motor with less torque. could you give details of what motors you are running in which cars and on what gearings etc... |

I have suffered this a lot recently since putting a new servo in. Lots of cuts when you just picked the throttle up from the corner. I was running the small spektrum receiver which is supposed to be the best for not having this problem and 2 capacitors in parrallel to add there capacitance so more voltage stored but it still done it.
Changed back to my old 40Mhz receiver and it all cleared. Basically if you run spektrum it shuts off too easily when everything loads the speedo's bec up and then spektrum goes in to shut down for a split second. E. |

We also played with this and a brushed motor on same speedo and it wasn't right, the throttle curve was just really wrong. Limited resolution and it took off like a scalded cat at half stick. The 7.5 motor may have helped mask the problem but maybe not solve it
Defo not tranny issues as we checked all that.

![]() ![]() Now I'm led to believe the Nosram is the same as an LRP but with different outer packaging. The reason I asked the original question is that the only difference between our two buggies is that he runs the Nosram 6.5 and I run the LRP X11 6.5 (don't ask our LHS only had 1 of each!). My buggy cut in and out and it was thought to be thermalling, I changed to a smaller pinion and it was better but it still has moments where it stops for no apparent reason and then goes again a few seconds later, usually just as the poor marshall has run his legs off and got to it! I'm just wondering if it could be a motor issue rather than the speedo? ![]() |

nosram is red lrp
you have the same bec issue we are all facing. put a power cap in and the problem will be solved or run the blue fet wire directly in to the rx +ve pin |

I run an LRP 5.5 in 4WD and 6.5 in 2WD.
it could be the issue that Big E said above. be careful about running the blue fet wire to your RX, this is 7.2v and might damage your servo or reciever. |

if Dan felt that there was something 'wrong' then I would say there is.
I have not noticed any stutter or lack of throttle resolution with my sphere's (all of them) with most of the motors(not tired every motor). I can even 'balance' when going up a severe up-slope just with the throttle. |

This is fine to do with a spektrum receiver as they are rated up to 9 volts. I've been running mine like that for 6 months with no issues.

My speedo has been sent to the operating table.Unlike you i am not running Spectrum and im aware people with Spectrum have been having slight problems. Hopefully there is something wrong with my speedo and i get it back asap. Im running a borrowed brushed system at this weekends regionals but still have my 4.5 in my 4WD. Fingers crossed!!

Just had a letter from Helger Racing RE Spher comp 2007 that i sent them to get sorted. I am a bit unsure of the comment they have put on the bottom of the page. I hope this is ok to post with a shop name being mentioned. Here goes!
"Unit is shutting down with very little load. Would suggest that the motor is checked, because the fault I am getting here is not a sensor issue. If your motor has a fault and is plugged into a good speedo, you risk damaging the speed control. Sorry but i have to charge for the solder?scratches to the case." I am going to ring them in the morning but to me that means they are going to send me my speedo back unfixed and they are blaming my motor. Maybe i am misunderstanding them but surely if the unit is " shutting down with very little load" then its the speedo not the motor as i didnt send the motor off with the speedo. Sorry for the long post but i would like some advice before i speak to them in the morning.Thanks.Chris. |

A little relevant but also a little unrelevant to this post....
Whithin the first couple of time o using my LRP Brushless it cut, and after fitting the power cap to the rcv no problems at all..., (This is using Spektrum). At the last National, did have a few problems with the 2wd, the car kept stopping after 5min. My colleague told me it was the sensor wire which we dually changed and this solved the problem. The old sensor lead is now in the bin... I have ordered some to keep as spares, seeing I am not the only one that has had this problem.... P
