Sorry but not that transmitter, you can only convert transmitters that use a module, like the 3VCS, Super Exzes, and the new KO Esprit 3

gemini 2 wont work but will feel very simlar in your hand to either a 3vc or the new ko both of which are very good hand sets and will both use 2.4 without any issue's so find someone at your local club who has one of each and see what feels nicest in your hand

I don't know what your budget is, the Futaba & K.O are both excellent handsets but come at a price, especially if your then adding a Spektrum module to them. If you able to make use of all their features obviously there's no question about getting one of these.
If your budget doesn't allow this, or you won't make use of all the features, I use a Hitec Eclipse Pro car with a Spektrum module & my son uses the Sanwa Super Exzes, both stick type radios in the mid price range.
As niggs98 said you need something that feels comfortable in your hands but I mentioned the above just to widen your options.
