After running the Novak 5.5 in the B44 at Petit RC at the weekend, my rear wheel nuts were coming loose after every run, not a problem I have normally when running stock class.
What size thread are the nuts so I can order some new Nyloc ones, and where can I get the thin flanged front nuts as well? |

I had the same thing on mine. I replaced them with new nuts and they've never come undone. I think we're all guilty of over-tightening them and fronts especially being so short don't have much there.

Is this common then? rear wheel nut working loose after one 5 minute heat on the B4?? i just thought it was happening to me. I was going to run a line of thread lock on the axle threads & let it set
but it seems new nuts will cure it |

i found it depends on the wheel also! kit dished are harder than some out there so i stick with them, if i run j concepts they need tightening after every 5 mins, they dont with kit dished!

I've had to change my rear wheel nuts as well, the front standard nuts are a joke!
I've wrecked 2 pairs of fronts wheels because they came loose. the threads on the driveshafts aren't long enough so the nylon in the nuts doesn't grab the threads properly. Anyone replacing the front nuts should use Fastrax nuts, the are shallower and don't come loose. |

Personally I've had little or no trouble with the stock narrow front wheel nuts for the B44.
I'd replace them every few months. Always preforming the following. For a new nut I will always pre-thread it onto the axle. I believe this makes it a better fit, when securing the wheel. When securing the wheel I will always lock the drive shaft with a screw driver or similar. So the screw driver is holding the axle/drive shaft steady, not using the wheel at all. MiCk B. :-)

On a lock nut the theads should always protrude slightly to allow the nylon to grip the thread and stop them backing off thats how they work. In the B44's case it doesn't hence why they come loose.
You can thighten the nut as tight as you like but it the nylon can't grip it then it isn't going to say on end of story. I've been racing for over 16 years so I know how to put a wheel nut on and this is the only car that's given me this trouble. |

I used some serrated nuts on Schuie cat that locked to the wheel. Does anyone know if there are any for the B44, them suckers never came loose.

i always had problems with the nut backing off, so i used losi nuts and checked them after every run. I have to say that the serated nuts on the tamiya never come loose! them suckers are on there! even broke a tamiya hex tool once trying to get them off!
