Default Orion R10 – Not communicating to when plugged into the programming box

Orion R10 – Not communicating to when plugged into the programming box (PB) and PC

I have been playing around with the R10 over the last few days and found I could not get the R10 to communicate in the top sensor port using the PB or PC USB connection with the speedo installed as normal in the car and connected to the motor.

What I have found is that the sensor ports are connected internally within the speed controller and the programming box uses the temperature sensor output from the sensor ports to communicate to the PB.

So if your motor has a thermister (motor temperature sensor) installed like a Novak, Viper, Tekin and most American motors you must disconnect the sensor lead to the motor before the PB will communicate to the speed controller as the thermister screws the link.

I had the same problem with a Tekin, had to unplug it to use the box, but it was unnecessary with an Orion motor. Thanks for the explanation.

I am interested by your fix too!
