I have only ever used Novak GTB's, I don't seem to be able to fault them having used them since they were first released. Reliabillity has been 100% and have therefore never needed to consider moving away from using them...
But im curious to know, Is there really much difference between diferent controllers? Is it really noticable on the track? What characteristics have improved? and are these improvements really that much better? Obviously size changes, but what about reliabillity, performance, punch, braking, operating temperatures (controller & motor), delivery/smoothness of power, quallity from different manufacturers and the customer/aftersales support! What are your thoughts.... What are your preferences? I'm interested in hearing from those who have tried multiple brands/models. Anyone had chance to try a Novak Kinetic yet having previously run GTB's.. Are different controllers better suited to different classes with regards to the controllers at the higher end of the market. |

most difference I noticed from the GTB to a speed passion GT2.0 was how smooth the SP was. the GTB almost felt like an on off switch compared.

I have just switched from a GTB to a GM90 in my touring car, and as a result moved up a final, i found my old GTB was great in the twisty stuff but getting eaten alive on the big straights i could only get either speed on the straights or punch out of the corner

The big changes are only really relevant if you run in a stock class (13.5t or higher wind.) The new generation of ESC's have advanced timing and dynamic advanced timing (you can change the motor timing as a function of RPM). This gives a higher top speed without increasing the temps too much and without impacting on the low speed acceleration.
If you are running mod, or any unrestricted class then I'd say stick with your GTB and if it's not fast enough then you can run a faster motor ![]() Ben |
