Having just seen the invasion of this foum by a shed load of spam - what is this all about? Why do they waste their time doing it?

Its often not people....

Servers, with 'bot's running, which are programmed to find loopholes, and security flaws in software. Its the same with viruses, spyware, malware...etc etc. You could ask the same question of them!

All these "Buy Viagra online" etc companies that arent exactly full of morals, and the "Click here for pics of Britneys tits" pay to have their websites etc promoted in all manner of ways.

There are stories that have been posted on IT news sites about prolific spammers hailing from all over the globe that are paid for the amount of revenue they bring in and the best way to get that revenue coming in is mass spamming.

Some are bots, some are people..either way its a bloody nightmare for a forum Admin.

Stop clicking into the threads as well, it alerts them to activity on the form and they try again.

The person who did all the spam this morning is a raving homosexual. I would love to find out where he lives and go down and make sure all his neighbours know that hes a raving fudgepacker.

I've changed the signup process - no more image verification, instead ive asked a simple question.......... Tamiya make RC cars - type Tamiya as the answer.

Hopefully that'll come across clear enough to our foreign chums and stop some of the spam that been increasing in numbers recently. It's a massive job to try and keep it off the forum.
