Hi all... does anyone have any thoughts on shock oil and piston holes for running on carpet please? I'm thinking of running 40wt and 3 holes... is this a bit soft for carpet?

Hello mate,

I run mine at the Carpet Thrasnals,

I run the Tamiya TRF M-Chassis shocks with 2 hole pistons front and rear,
50wt AE oil in the front
40wt AE oil in the rear

(not blowing my own trumpet but I'm currently 1st overall and have TQ'd 3 out of 4 meetings, the finals are a double header affair and I've won 5 A finals and 2nd in the other 3. Take from that what you want)

Hope this helps
Dez

many thanks dude... hey, and good work on the results too...! I use the mini CVA's but I think I will take your advice on board and go with 2 holes and 40/50wt as you suggested... I have been running 2 holes with 50wt f/r... BTW what spring rates are you using if you don't mind sharing?

Do you run just one layer of tyre insert or do you pack 'em in..? I run the kit tyres & medium Tami inserts in just one layer as I feel it allows the sidewall to flex a bit and assists with the dreaded grip-roll... (along with the compulsory super-glue of course!)

I only run one layer of hard inserts on both the fronts and rears!

I tried the two layer method and to be honest noticed no difference ( expect the expense of course )

The only thing we do to combat the grip role is to turn down the steering rate, I use a Futaba 3VCS radio and typically run around 75% travel

Another method of reducing grip role is to super glue the outside edge of the sidewall of the front tyres, have tried this but once it's done theres no going back!
