Default b maxx front hub mod

hi all been playing about a bit this weekend at worksop and tested bx front hubs on the b max , worked a treat ,, at work sop the car tends to understerr but when i changed to the bx front hubs it totally transformed the car , firstly the steering travel had increased due to the bx hubs being thinner and the bx hub seems to have more adjustment due to two holes for height on the set up ,, ironically all i did was swap hubs and no initial modification was needed ,, ie no dremmeling cutting any thing at all ,, so if you struggling for steering try this out ,, im sure yardy might shed some light on this if he s tried it

also prt number is bx 413 10 guys ,,,

Default champ pack hub postion too

hi all just had a bit more of a play about on the bx front hubs as when i was running at the weekeend i put the bx hubs on in the upper position for the champ pack set up thinking that it would n t work in the lower position ,,, mmm now i ve looked at tryed to change it to see if it would work in the lower postion and surprize surprize the b max steering arms fit on the bx hubs in the upper and the lower postions sweeeeeeeeeeeeeett ,, so this means you can have the hub and the arm lower on the hub and lower on the steering arm or vice versa and so on with no modification to it at all and no the drive shaft dont foul anything either more playong time me think is needed with this ,,,

my next chalange is the slipper assembly as to me and one or two others it works but its not easy to adjust at the best of time s ,, at the present i ve got more thread lock on it than i can caree to mention ,, yes its not comingloose but there s room to change it and get a grub screw in there i think

are they bmax hubs and bx caster blocks it looks to me the hubs sit wonky in the caster blocks ie the top looks to be further in than the bottom. or is it just your pics

how have you not got enough steering ive limited my steering to give less lock as it pivots so well have yoiu tried the yokomo shocks?

thats what i thought you were going to say the bx caster blocks are 10deg caster the b max are 13deg as far as im aware which would give you a little more steering into and through the corner. i have the b max rear hubs on mine and to be fair the car feels the same as with the plastic hubs but it gives you more adjustment.

This is not a mod I have tried, however I do have a pair of BX caster blocks and my dad has taken a look at what the effects may be of running them.

Graham: Not disputing anything you have said, if it worked for you then that is fine, like I say I haven't tried it, but I'm not sure it has necessarily changed the handling for the reasons you have stated. To fit the BX block, because of the way they are drilled, you have either lengthened your front link, or moved it over, by moving to the outer hole on the tower and fitting it to the bx block on the outside- I think this may be the reason for your handling benefit, and not so much because of any extra travel or caster alteration, more a roll centre change?

Discostu: we've done some measurements on the caster blocks and the actual blocks, both BMAX and BX appear to be 10deg. When you say that the BMAX has 13deg. are you referring to it having 13 deg. in total, taking into account the inboard kick up also? We personally don't think that fitting the BX caster block alters caster at all...

In reference to the rear hubs, geometry wise the alloy rear hubs are IDENTICAL to the plastic ones, the benefit is that they have a vertical ball stud so you can change link angle. If you run 2mm under the ball stud as provided with the hubs, you get the EXACT same link angle as with the plastic hubs, however you now have the option to go up and down. I have tried both 1mm under, and 3mm under but 2mm under seems the best option, for me anyway.
