Default Am I latest Xcelorin victim?

Hi guys, a bit of help needed. I have just finished installing my brand new Xcelorin 6.5 in my Losi XX4 WE and its not going well. When I switch on the power, the servo is hunting a bit around neutral. When you throttle up, the steering is glitching badly. I have tried two different KO receivers, diffferent crystals, different servos with the same results. The same radio bits work fine when hooked up to my Speed Passion speedo in a different car, so I rule out those as a problem. The only common part that causes problems is the Xcelorin combo. All connections seem fine. The only time it stops glitching under throttle is if the receiver is moved as far as possible from the speedo, outside of the car. This is not much good though! It is even doing it when set up out of the car. When the receiver is placed near the speedo glitching starts.
I have raced for many years, and flown model aircraft even longer so I feel I know how to lay out radio kit to avoid problems. It seems the speedo is generating noise which is upsetting the radio system, even when no throttle is used. Is this going back to Horizon then? Would probably rather have my money back if I can, as my confidence in the Losi setup was not that high seeing the problems others have had. I was hoping to be one of the lucky ones!!

Could it be something to do with the Fan on the ESC? Could try unplugging from it from the ESC just to see if it makes amy difference. I have 2 of these and they are fine once they are working!

make sure you have it setup for the right radio frequency, legacy or 2.4ghz.

does it have the power cap fitted to the speedo?

I tried it with the fan disconnected, no difference. The speedo is set for legacy as I'm on 40mHz. Power cap is also fitted.

You need a inline fet choke to the servo.

Thumbs up choke

i use the xcelorin, solder a choke to the fet wire and then to the positive of the powercap. all should be sorted. the only other thing would be to move the pt away from the rx as this can make the servo and speedo go all to pot.

The servo is a 6v KO digital fet servo, it doesnt have a seperate power feed. How would I incorporate a choke like we used to use on the 7.2v servos? It is also doing it with 2 different ananlogue servos, one a Futaba and the other a Multiplex.
I have not put the PT in the car yet.
I put the old GM brushed speedo back in, which seems to be doing the same but a lot less than the Losi. This is getting really confusing. As soon as either setup goes in the car it starts glitching, but much worse with the Losi speedo. It is a carbon chassis, but I have made sure the cells are isolated, and that no connections are touching it. I dont remember having this problem with the car before, if the steering was twitching a tiny bit I never noticed. This is starting to get annoying!!

Had another go with the Losi, it feels like the glitching is affecting the motor as well as the steering. You can feel little surges when held at a constant low throttle setting. I might try a seperate receiver pack to isolate the speedo bec.

Had a plan, the Losi setup seems happy sitting on top of the Speed Passion in my B4 and doesnt glitch. I know the SP is ok, so it looks like a swap over might be in order. Be nice to know why it doesnt like the XX4 other than its carbon, but if it works ok in the B4 it can live there instead. Any other ideas appreciated, thanks for the feedback so far

Day 2, tried the Losi speedo in the B4 again and it is still glitching a bit. For an experiment I tried one of my Spektrum aircraft receivers with the speedo, to see if a 2.4gHz setup was better. It was, even with the rx sandwiched between the speedo and motor there wasnt one glitch. Changed back to 40mHz, went nuts again. It seems like it doesnt like my KO radio. Hoping Horizon will be able to sort this out, otherwise its no good to me.

How have you got your reciever positioned on top of the small 'deck' above the tunnel on the XX4? Put the receiver on its side, and your interference will 'disappear' with 40mHz!!

As long as you put the crystal "away" from the deck.

I have tried the receiver in every position possible, no difference. It is glitching even when laid out on the floor, but is worse in the car. I used to have the rx on its side before, never had any problems. The only time it plays up is when the Losi speedo is used.

Hope this helps

I am using the latest version of the set up software from the Losi website, never installed the disc version. Latest firmware, no problem connecting or changing programming.
The PT has never been in the car during this process.
It just doesnt like my KO radio (Esprit 2, KR297FZ rx), so I hope there is a fixable problem.

i know how it feels,,the problem i have is i can calibrate transmitter and speedo fine, but say after 8 races i go back to race it looses all setting then will take about 5 attempts to re calibrate it. thats when the problems start! it was working fine but now i cant get it to be smooth on throttle it keeps going to full throttle when im on 1/4 on transmitter then if i carry on going up the throttle itl go back how it should be(really bad glitching but servo is fine no movement),but then sometimes work fine.ive tried a differant trani/sensor wire, the capacitor seems fine.so why is it one minute its ok but then it wont work but then itl work again? so unreliable andy ive not tried the new program yet as i am a bit unsure on how to do it,(computer skills are naff)
