Evening club members...

Although we have not mentioned in the rules about crystals, it became clear last week that with many of the RTR 1:18 buggies/trucks being run straight out of the box that we might fall foul of some crystal clashes in the New Year with so much interest in running these cars. Of course there are some of us who will be running ours with 2.4GHz, but for the rest I think we might have to be a little more strict on members having to have at least 1 alternative set of crystals at all times, ideally 2 spare sets.

I had to do a lot of moving around for the finals this week and 1 driver was moved down and swapped with a lower placed driver becuase they didn;t have a spare crystal to change.

This is all fine in an open meeting, but when we start the championships we can't do this as it will affect the scoring.

Russell, I think it might be useful, if you do not have any already, to look at having a supply of extra crystals that members running their cars from the box can purchase so they always have options to change and race. It has not really been an issue with the TC's as the majority of us run 2.4GHz.

Thoughts guys - should we be saying 1 or 2 spare sets of crystals?

Good call Scott, I remeber the days when everyone had to have 3 sets of crystals just to be considered entry into a lot of meetings.

Incidentally, for those on 27Mhz, I think the Xmods crystal set could a good purchase. I believe you get 6 pairs of crystals for about £10-£20 and you could split that with 1-2 other racers and share the cost and each have a couple extra pairs of crytals. for you 40Mhz guys, it could be a little more expensive as you probably need brand specific crystals (at least thats how it used to be)
