Default Actionpics: Dark Impact @ The track

Here are some photos from my DI driving at the local track in my town. The track isn't in it's best shape now after the winter and the track has been sometimes ruined by some guys with bicycles and mopeds driving around the track . But anyway, our RC-society is going to fix the track now soon

It's hard to drive and take pictures at the same time

Nicely done, love the dust coming off the car, very dramatic, whilst still showing good speed

Wow! Like the yellow-black theme on it. Very nice! Are those the 3Racing shock towers or Square towers?

Hi.

Not Square, neither 3Racing. My shock towers are from Five Stars. Now you can also find carbon shock towers from Topcad too. Next sunday if we have good weather here the second race of our championship.

Bye.

Default Race review.

Hello.

I'm going to tell you my experience racing my DF-03 last sunday, I hope you find it interesting. The race was the 2th of the Bizkaia provincial championship in the city of Bilbao. We have quite good weather but with some wind (The circuit is on the top of a big hill?. The format of the race is 3 qualifications of 5 minutes and 3 finals of 6 minutes, the same than the spanish national.

I use along the race the same setup that worked perfectly the day before in the training, 3Racing shocks with Losi red coils in the front, pink in the rear, Corally's 30 oil in all the shock with 2 hole pistons. 1º of toe in in the front wheels and 1º of camber in the four wheels. My servo is one KO-713, an LRP IPC V7.1 ESC with a LRP Fushion Phase 4.1 12x2T. Tamiya's 21T pinnion and 78T spur. Ofcourse with tamiya's sleeper and central one-way.

In the first qualification I used Intellect 3800 NiMh normal batteries. I fininhed first, a very good start. I was 1.5 second far from the fastet lap but with really regular laps.
In the sencond and third qualifications I finished at 3th place also using Intellec 3800 batteries. I lose some time after a bad landing in one jump each time but with the strong wind that we had every jump was an small lottery. In both qualificantions I finished at less than one second of the 2th racer. But this was enought to give me the second place for the finals .

In the first final I went on with the great setup of the car but now running with GP 3900 batteries in the 3 finals. I just get the first possition after the start overcoming the previous driver in the first curve. For the finals I decided to Give up jumping long to avoid problems with the wind and I didn't lost this first possition.
In the second final I finish at 3th possition. Finally I couldn't finish the 3th final becouse 2 drivers hits my car at the same time and all the electronic of my car was totally disconected . But after all I finished in the second place the race with 12 laps in 6:13.715 seconds.

Here you can see a few pictures of the race. I hope you like it.

Good bye.

Thanks Jimmy. Finally I bought 3Racing conversion chasis. I'll send you pictures of the car as soon as I assembly it. In two weeks we have the second race of the Basque Championship in the circuit of Irun (Just at the French border), and I hope to test the car with the new chasis there. I'll keep you informed.

Cheers .

Hello thom.p

No, I haven't any cooling problem with car. I'm using 3Racing's Gear box plate with Tamiya's heat sink bars. Anyway I'm running with the exact final ratio indicated by LRP for this motor and it also helps.

Bye.

Eotz,
What holes did you mount your shocks at?

I found I could only use the innermost mounting holes on the front arms or else the steering links would bind against the shocks.

Default 2 quick questions

Hi all
A couple of quick questions if I may:

Eotz - What are the foam thingies sandwitched between the ball studs and connectors? I've seen them on other cars before but I know they're not kit Tamiya stuff. How do they help? Where can I get some for my Impact?

Budgio - I love the yellow wheels. Are they available in that colour, or are they white wheels that have been dyed yellow?

PS. Excellent couple of Hawks guys, thanks for sharing the pictures. Looking forward to the next updates....

Ta very much

Hello Sim.

I use the second hole from inside but I haven't any problem of clash betwen nothing. Maybe because I use Five Star shock towers and they are wider than yours?

leighriley75, those foams are from Associated, they aboid that the dirt enter inside the ball and damage it. I think they make a good work.

I hope this helps.

Bye
