Default 3.7v 1c lipo , or 4.8v pack

do you think a 1c lipo will give any advantages ove a 4.8v pack in a mardave v12 .. im currently using nosram 4600mah packs in there at the mo , but getting peed off with the power drop after a couple of laps ...

no you will go slower over 5 mins because of the voltage diffrence.

I don't know, there must be a reason why people use them in 1/12 over NiMH.

A NiMH pack cannot provide the same amount of current that a LiPo can, and so the pack's voltage drop under load will be greater. Therefore, I'd say the LiPo would have more punch out of corners, and would be able to sustain that punch for far longer than the NiMH pack.

It will also be lighter - so you'll be able to gear up slightly (as with the extra punch) which balances the less voltage than a 4-cell NiMh pack problem.

But mardaves use silver can brushed motors.
Thats my jist of things. so i would say it would be slower over all.
We had a guy play with 1 cell lipo yesterday he was running an lrp a1 brushless speedo 13.5 bonded brushless motor and it was spot on compared to the "top boy" me speed wise.

final leg 1
Nick Cooper Junior 20 / 312.74 15.63 14.77

^ brushed 540 motor 4cell nimh ^

Gary Crisp Senior 18 / 302.42 16.80 15.08

^ Brushless 13.5 1 cell lipo

Final leg 2

Nick Cooper Junior 19 / 312.52 16.44 14.86

Gary Crisp Senior 19 / 306.56 16.13 14.80

So 1 cell lipo and 13.5 is the way to go in mardaves.
Or 4 cell nimh and 17.5 mabe?

I guess with a stock Mardave motor there isn't a lot of current draw to worry about really.

Even so, the LiPo will 'feel' more consistent.

12th scale 1s LiPo v NiMh / 8 min race

4.8v
punch out of corner
quicker on the straights
volatge drop during the race

3.7v
need to gear up by at least 10% compared to 4.8v
slower on the straights
quicker on the infield due to less weight
little or know volatage drop

overall at present in 12th pancar NiMh just have it over LiPo

LiPo = smoother car to drive which helps them keep up, just and I'm talking 0.1 / 0.2 per lap
