Hello. I wanna get into racing so i need a buggy. But i have no idea which!
Here in Denmark there is a b44 for sale without electronics but with a saddle pack battery its 145 pounds. There's also a b4 for sale. It has some aluminum upgrades: Front and rear a-arms, threaded shocks, t-piece, front tower and gearbox. It comes with a atshushihara esc (never heard about it before) and a 17x2t motor, sanwa mx-3 radiosystem. It also comes with some 4600 mah nimh batts. Also 2 front wheels with tires, 2 rear wheels with tires and 2 rear tires. Its 182 pounds. I could also buy a ansmann mad rat, extra wheels and tires, extra wing and bearing set for about 70 pounds i think. I have a velineon esc, 3 brushless motors: 12t carson, 10t carson, 8,5t ezrun and a pretty cheap radiosystem so if i bought the madrat or b44 i could use my "old" electronics. Can you help me decide? Im just a kid so i dont have plenty of money ![]() My english is not perfect but im sure you will understand me ![]() |

English is good Benjab, I would go for the B44, good all round 4 wheel drive car, the B4 is a good 2 wheel drive, but not keen on aluminum upgrades, we do not see them when racing in the UK. try to go for lipo batteries, try to find a local club where you can race, visit and have a look at whats being used.

I think you should go to your local club first and see what is being run - that way you won't buy something you can't use!
Second, I would generally buy new if it is your first "race" car - it takes a bit of experience to know when a second-hand car is in good condition and when it is a wreck. Thirdly, if you do buy second-hand, look for cars in fairly original condition. Cars that have had a lot of "bling" hop-ups or a huge selection of used spare parts have probably led a pretty tough life, and "bling" hop-ups don't make the cars any faster. Look at the top racers cars and you will see they are usually pretty close to box stock. |

Thanks alot! But sadly there is only a few tracks in Denmark. A huge outdoor offroad one for 1/8 cars and its 20 minutes away from me (with car) and another one that has outdoor offroad and indoor offroad but it will take 45 minutes to get over there!
Lipo saddle packs are just soo expensive! 60 pounds in Denmark and i dont know the quality. |

I would stay away from the B4 with all the aluminium. It all looks great to beginners but it just doesn't work on the track.
One thing to look out for when buying a car is that you can run it properly. No use in buying the B44 if your local club doesn't run a 4wd class. If you want to get the B44 check that the suspension doesn't feel wobbly and that the diff outputs are still in good condition. Then turn the transmission and make sure it turns nicely. Also make sure you can get spare parts at the track you are going to be racing at. If your closest track is the nitro track also consider getting a nitro car. Always consider the parent factor when you want to go racing. Not all parents are so enthusiastic about driving you and your stuff to the track on a weekend... Lipos seem expensive at first but you only really need one or two to race. Make sure your charger is ok to charge lipos and that you will need lipo saddle packs for the B44. |

Ohh! IF im going to buy the b44 i cant see it in real life because its too far away (4 hours i think) Damn! Maybe its a bad idea buying a secondhand car. And i hate nitro! Ive never had a nitro car but my friend had a nitro buggy and i didnt like it. Always troubles with it.

Not everything sucks
![]() In fact shipping from Germany or England isn't that expensive. You can expect to pay something like 15€ postage for a car, which is fairly reasonable really and could make it worth it. Try putting an add in the wanted section here or scout ebay.co.uk for cars. Try going for a 2wd if you're just starting out. Easier to maintain and if you're running indoors on carpet way easier to drive too. |

I've got a B4 stealth that I have run for 2 seasons in summer outdoors...some spares, 3 sets wheels/tyres, 3 shells 'n wings, steering servo but no other electrics... I am now giving up on the buggy game and concentrating on TC so it is for sale @£90 GBP inc postage... PM me for details... (OR if anyone else fancies it, PM me...)

Emtee: Okay thanks! I will think about it. Dont know if i should start with a 1/18. A guy told me that was the best and cheapest way to start with.
Sparrow: There's also pics of the b44.. It LOOKS like its in good condition |

1/18th are cheaper to race, but you wouldn't be able to use all of your gear in a 10th buggy if you wanted to race that later down the line
only really receiver and charger could be used with both |

when I started racing again after a long time away from the hobby I got a few hand me downs from friends and family. my dad gave me his old cells. a friend loaned me a yokomo mx4bc and I bought the rest 2nd hand cheap enough. motor (20) speedo (30) charger (20) radio gear (80).
then bought my own car a few months later and about 9 months after starting again I finally bought a couple of packs of lipos and now a brushless system and a B44 |
