Default Gluing up 1/10th off road wheels & tires

Hi Guys,

Was wondering what do you all do when building your wheels up

I've always just cleaned them up & just glued up.

But just wondered what you guys tend to do?

Do you do anything to the inserts & tire?

Also when running indoors do you make any holes in the rims what size do you make the holes.

I just use Jconcept bands around the bead of the tyres, then put a bead of glue all the way around.
I'll also trim the bead of the tyre if its not fitting on the rim correctly.

Hi Guys,

What do you mean the bead?

You mean the extra little lip on the tires that fit into the grooves on the wheels.

Dont you open the holes up on the rims, when running indoors

i always put two holes in the wheels, No more than 3mm across, opposite one another. Then i find the best insert for me (in this case i prefer losi or proline) and glue roughly six dots of glue either side so i can easily reuse the wheel when the tires wear out. I have never had a tyre come off.

Bead is the large circular flat bit that slots into the grooves on the wheels. It sometimes is not perfectly formed so you need to trim it to fit perfectly in the wheel slotted groove.

I have started playing with tyres and inserts.
I use a full rear insert in the front to act as a hard insert, I am also playing with smaller holes or no holes in the front wheels. In the rear I use an un trimmed insert, a 3 to 4 mill-ish hole in the wheel, I like rear end grip
Then glue all around the edge, an acetone bath gets the tyres off and the inserts are ok with this, then I give my second hand tyres to younger drivers that will use them, speaking of this, I have a huge bag of used tyres and inserts I will be giving out at the next EPR winter series.

Acetone is great just put a bit in an old paint tin then place your wheels is then the tyres just fall of after a couple of days.

Also if the tyres are totally gone cut them off just leaving the glued bead then take insert out.
