you need better shocks to start with b4shock as the kits shocks are crap and get some alloy bits have a look at paul rebuild my the same as is
there good cars but weak at the back end carbon tplate will sort that out

Hello again

It's not half bad for the money but needs several things done to it before you take it racing.

1. Ball bearings
2. different shocks
3. New style T-plate
4. the hinge pin holder at the back needs bulletproofing or replacing with aluminium.

All in all you might be better off getting a second hand B4 and take that racing. You can then draw from a huge wealth of setup knowledge here on oople and spares are easy to come by.

Not saying the MadRat is bad it's just the B4 is hugely popular for a reason

tplate spur gears are not verygood but ok for now and get some alloy bits like rear pin holders and a strong tplate and your sorted. my madrat rat stand me£150 with no electric and get a rpm front bumper and rpm rodends all my shock tower are metal and metal tplate and all the alloy parts but a never good car .
first time i tryed racing i came 6 place with the madrat

i can see it seems everyone has one for sale but is this the way things are going ?

12mnths ago ansmann made cheap accesories and bad offroad buggys

now they have two pro models and a budget buggy which alot of people seem to own

its all about money in the end really

Ignore Stampy's advice on alloy bits, none of those bits are any good for racing at all.

As Sparrow says, get ball races £8, second hand B4 shocks and a new moulded t-plate if it's not in the kit already.

With these on the car will be every bit as competitive as an RB5 or B4. spares are easy to get but fairly expensive in relation to the £50 kit price. You'd be better off buying 2 kits!

As Sparrow says, a second hand B4 will serve you just as well, just depends if you like the B4's handling or not. I think the madrat would be easier to drive for a beginner as the rear end is a lot more planted than a B4.

oh, and you will need to add lead to the car. lots of it, around 200g, mainly at the front

just sold my rwd M03 so i might fund it with the spoils of the sale i had a xxx earlier in the year but didnt like the vauge front end and it was difficult for parts and definetly not a basher

but id like to try racing so £50 isnt a bad deal if it gets me going

to get the car racing you will need to spend in the region of £80-90, depending on the price of the shocks you get. Also a set of the relevant tyres. It's still half the price of the other competitive buggies out there or more.

But put lead in the front or it will feel vague! lol

yes £80,90 on the chassis but thats no electrics

i beleive a 8.5t sensored is adequate lipo fast servo and 40mhz/2.4ghz

so it will be around £250 before ive even started a race

ive spent money and time i think im just looking for what i want in the hobby

the outlay is outdone by the enjoyment imho

id like to sell up and concentrate butt... if its not for me its alot to spend

if you already have the electrics then it will be an easy cheap way to get up and running. If you don't like it you have only lost out on the £80 for the car (but you will get half of that back if sold!)

in other thread ive just determined my esc is only usefuly as a paper weight so thats a added cost into the mix

still i think i will mend the firestorm and soo whats left and ask more questions later

althought it is very tempting its not doable in money terms at the moment
