Just back from bury indoor did ok just need help on where i can gain some seconds in the race my overall scale speed is pretty slow,
I am running a 9t ezrun on a 23t think most people am racing against are running 6.5t.I would like to get a 6.5t but funds are not allowing that at mo,so how can i gain or progress with the x6? Am also running a standard futaba steering servo which maybe the problem.

If you motor temps are still low enough you can always try pulling a higher gear on your motor (a slightly larger pinion), but only if it is running cool enough already to do so.
With regards your servo, if you are not worried too much about its lifespan (assuming it is just a budget Futaba you have) you can try "hotwiring" it, which involves removeing the "red" lead from the servo plug and connecting it ot the 7.2volt battery feed/connector on your ESC. It will reduce the overall life of your servo (although it wont casue it to fail straight away as a result or anything). It simply gives the servo 7.2 volt instead of between 5.4 and 6 volts that it gets when it powers through the reciever...... Failing that you may have to invest in a better servo if you feel that is what is holding you back

If you think you have servo problems, many times it's the servo saver. The AE servo saver sucks, and the answer is to glue it together. That will not be good for the life of a low-end servo, but the good metal gear servos seem to take it OK.
While a 9.5 is not a lot of motor, many drivers here in the U.S. run 8.5 or 7.5. Here, 6.5 is too much motor in an X - 6. (Ellis, of course, will disagree. He can't count higher than 6...) If you gear the 9.5 properly, you should have no problem keeping up. I run stock truck, with a 17.5 as the required motor. At most tracks I am geared 30/70 (!) with a D.M.S. spur. Two fans, one each on the Speed Passion motor and the Speed Passion ESC. They survive just fine. So gear that puppy to the moon and let 'r rip. |

thanks for the reply.Am going to try a higher pinion because the car is running warm so maybe push it out to a 24/25t am running a 78 spur gear.
I've been looking at servo's the bluebird range seem to be of good quality and alot at are club run them and seem to be happy. Also maybe i need to improve my driving because its my first x6 i dont think am driving it aggressive enough, x6's hold the corner line well i tend to drift it into the corner and throttle up once am straight. Put its going wide on fast little corners ,thats why i need to change the servo because its just not strong enough...loving the car ![]() ![]()

i used to run softer front springs to get a little more grip because my x6 pushed quite alot. Whilst at broxtowe a predator team driver looked at it and then glued up my servo saver. The buggy was transformed straight away, never pushed anymore and felt amazing.
Do this mod, you wont be dissapointed! ( thanks to that pred guy, cant remember your name but cheers anyway) |

Forgot to say, i used to hav a 9t ezrun combo in my b4. Be careful when going up on the pinion. The 9t motor is only a 380 size in a 540 can and will soon get very hot if you go up just one tooth too far

Id say your probably under geared, I was running 23/78 on a Epic 6.5 at Bury on Sunday
![]() As people have mentioned if your struggling with understeer the first thing to do is glue the servo saver it can make a massive difference. If you need any help or setup advise at Bury just ask and ill be happy to take a look. If your looking at changing the servo take a look at the Savox range theres some awesome well priced servos

As i dont run the x6 i cant really comment on the speed bit altough in general terms i would go up a pinion or 2
As for the servo bit, i just got a Savox SC1257, 0.07 secnds and 10kg of torque, it's fine for 10th electric, and i think that this servo is amazing great on the track, loads of difference from a standard Towerpro servo, although i think i might glue the servo saver as read above as i am strugerling with under steer |

Mark - going wide on the fast little corners was exactly the problem I was also having at Bury (besides the table top!!). I have a Savox metal geared servo so I think I'll take peoples advice and glue up the saver.
A question to those that know - do you simply glue the upper and lower arms together and leave the rest as is, or do you also remove the spring? Quote:

I usually left the spring on but got really tired of stripping the thread out of the plastic nut....
So I bought some of these instead http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/GPM-ALLOY-STEE...item19b5df000f Don't use the drag link though as it seems to have lots of play in it but the bellcranks work well. The steering has no give in it after you fit this; however I still haven't managed to kill a servo yet. |

I just glue the upper and lower parts together then build as normal with the spring etc

The promblem with the front maybe am running a brass bulkhead which came with the car i know from this forum that it will not help with understeer and alot of x6 driver do not use them.
A going to have a look at gearing the car higher maybe from what matt say's go for a 25t,will that make the car more aggressive and less top end? Also alot of people i know as well glue the servo horn up so am going to give that a go. Also nearly forgot to tell you i am running a 3 toe block at rear due to last outing at bury hit the table top a little quick and missed the down ramp by a mile lol snapped the bulkhead and toe bar as well ![]() ![]() Anyways i've now bought a new set think am going to put the 4 back on will that help???Some one said at bury that the 3 degree toe in is more predictable and more traction out of turns..can some one please explain the difference with the 3/4 thanks again.....
