I am workin on it, I don't have a recent backup though so it might take some reverse hacking for me to get it back

I don't know why these guys try and flex their hacking muscles on unsecure hobby sites... go play with google or MSN if you want respect

its not the end of the world, you still got oople and racechat

there might be some oddness with users (if they registered after nov 2006)

I will see if I can get a 'recent' copy of my database from the host

why do they always hack your site?

I think you should upgrade to IPB 2.2, and custom script an mkportal replacement in php and SQL, then you can make it more secure than the Bank of England

I have to pay money then,

half the problem is that I use the free versions of the IPB forum and MKPortal, they are old and so open to exploits its an easy target...

these hackers are the trophy hunters of the hacker world, its like factory drivers racing club meetings to get their win ratio up

I think the $69 for the new IPB 2.2 would be perfect. And MKportal is free anyways lol.

Why should he have to pay, maybe the hackers just aren't good enough to tackle sites with some form of security.

Can your Host not offer some form of better security though, Chris?

the host has perfect security, its just that there are loop holes in the software that I run that allow remote code execusion and other things that hackers like

I have 1.3 which was the last free IPB board.

thanks for the offer Ben, I will have a dig around, I will proberbly just patch up any holes I find and then recover the next time it gets hacked

ok mate, np. If you can find out what they are doing each time, maybe you can get a security mod or hack someone has made somewhere to fix the loophole.

Infact here is a fix for a medium risk security hole

ooo and this looks like a really cool mod to fix any holes with it,
